Lovely Location, Facilities Need Improvement, Clarify Charges
Because of long delays on our flight we arrived well late into the night and very tired. The manager of the resort then informed us that he will "upgrade" us into 2 beachfront rooms as I have originally booked 1 beachfront and 1 river view room. We were very thankful, not knowing that the upgrade would cost us at the check out. In our experience, when accommodations upgrade you by their own discretion, we normally do not get charged. The location of the resort is 10/10! They were not lying about the rooms being infront of the beach. It is such a refreshing experience to sea the sunrise and sunset on the beach and to watch storms in the horizon. That aspect of the resort was amazing. Inside the cottages are a different story. We had to request for a new set of pillow cases and bath towels as we could not stomach the smell on them! It seemed like someone had already used it before us! The lady assigned to look after us was very nice though and she happily obliged to our requests. The shower area in the bathroom has a problem too as it tends to overflow and the water does not go down straight away. The sink is the same, the water takes forever to go down, thankfully the toilet flushes without any mishaps.
We were offered a "cheaper" boat ride fee of 300 pesos per hour, on which upon payment we were a bit shocked as it was 300 pesos PER PERSON per hour. We were also NOT informed that we could swim and snorkel in the location that they would take us, so that trip was really an expensive waste although Phaidon Beach is a lovely, tucked away, quiet beach and we were lucky to have it to ourselves when we were taken there (only we could not swim or snorkel as we were not prepared for such activities)
The peacefulness of the night was shattered regularly by loud music playing in the restaurant which is only a couple of steps away from the cottages. We've had drunken people shouting just on our doorstep too. We were very tired and did not have the energy to complain about it when it happened.
Food can be ordered in the restaurant and a bit pricey but it was always freshly cooked.
It is also good to point out that there can be a lot of starfishes, sea snakes, and sea urchins! It might be because the beach is near a marine sanctuary and there has been a storm the night before but one morning, the water receded and revealed dozens of these wonderful creatures. The only problem was that we were not informed about this and we were swimming in the same spots the night before in pitch black waters. We all know how an accident with a sea urchin and a sea snake can turn out, painful at least, lethal at most.
Upon check out we discovered that we were charged for the "upgrade". At that point I just paid and wanted to leave but minutes later the manager sent someone to collect the upgrade fee again. Thankfully I asked for the receipt the first time and managed to show the person that it has been included in our bill. It may have been an honest mistake but that left a bad taste in our mouths. Maybe next time they can provide a more official looking receipt and itemised list of charges.
The place has a lot of potential if the buildings are more kept and if management provides a list of information and warnings regarding the activities you can do and the dangers that may lurk in the area.

Great location but facilities need improving
The location is very pretty with a nice little beach looking across the bay and with a river running behind it. The staff were very friendly and the service was good.
The food was average, I'd have to say. We certainly ate a lot better during the remainder of our Philippines holiday. Our AC unite stopped working during the night which made us realise just how hot and stuffy those chalets can get.
Also, we were woken up by banging music being played by the restaurant staff at 6.30am which wasn't great. However, there was a party being hosted by the resort that weekend so I'm not sure that was the norm.
Overall, rough and ready but decent value for money.

A beautiful serene location that is just meant to be enjoyed
The resort is fronted by the sea and to the rear is the river, it is so calm and peaceful, we only wish our stay had been longer once we arrived and saw how lovely the place was.
The rooms are well equipped with TV cable box fridge and adequate storage, they have both AC and a ceiling fan. The beds are very comfortable, toiletries are provided and we received a welcoming drink upon arrival.
The staff are absolutely fantastic and really aim to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. I asked where the nearest shop was but a member of staff was dispatched to pick up a couple of things for me. We only ate breakfast here but the food we did have was lovely.
Transport maybe a problem if you dont have your own but the hotel will ring for a trike for you if you need one.
Malumpati Cold Water Springs are a must if you in the area and there is also a Zip Line for the more adventurous.
This is not the area for those who want night clubs and neon lights but it is the place for you if you want to experience the real Philippines. We were so impressed by Rosepoint we are intending to return in 2017 for a longer stay.
