Years after, still the best
The staff are EXTREMELY attentive to the needs and will not hesitate to accommodate requests (I guess as long as they are not in the extreme). The place is cozy, breakfast is served depending on the requested time. The place is rustic, quiet and a really good place to rest. It became our refuge for our three night stay. Though they do not have a pool or other amenities, they made up for that with everything else.
It is for me, still the BEST place to stay in Calbayog.

Peaceful sleep
My delux room was large and clean. It had a large bed, wardrobe, fridge and good cable TV. The tiled bathroom was clean with hot water and a bathtub. I would speculate that there are not many bathtubs on the island of Samar.
The porch area had a table and two chairs overlooking the garden area. You have to pre order the complimentary breakfast (basic list) which is delivered to your outside table at your specified time. Even though they have no restaurant they do have some home delivery menus and the staff will phone your order through for you, which is what I did. There are small family run shops along the main road for drinks and snacks etc. The staff were helpful and cheerful.
There were water restrictions in place when I stayed due to recent earth tremors but easily enough to work around.
Even though I had to travel (tricycle) back in to town to access van services I was happy with my decision to stay at S&R.

Very good!
They were also kind enough to add another breakfast table for us (we were four) so we do not have to cram on one.
Overall excellent service!
Will definitely consider to stay in this place on our next land travel/road trip.

Wonderful, clean and quiet place!
