One night only

Room spotlessly clean perhaps a little dated but fine, evening meal was very good excellent steak and soup, only down side was the very slippery shower tray that could be lethal, friendly staff would stay again..

Well...

The interior of the restaurant is a mix of kitsch and clutter that is not appropriate here. This makes the restaurant look uninviting. The room was neat and tidy. The bathroom was recently renovated and was big enough.
The staff is friendly and breakfast was provided.
Dinner at the restaurant was quite disappointing; my wife had the breaded chicken and it was a fiasco; many shoe soles are softer...
We had a view of the open kitchen and saw the kitchen staff several times take something out of the pan by hand and put it in their mouth...

It's in a convenient location...

Stayed a few nights for work. It was a last minute job, so I travelled to Den Helder in the evening. When you're really tired after a long trip its nice that the hotel is right across the road from the railway station.
It cost a lot for the 2 nights I stayed, I've never paid so much for a basic room. I had a single bed with no bedside table, so in the morning I found my spectacles either in bed with me or on the floor. My room was on the 2nd floor and had been getting the heating from the roof in the recent heatwave. There was no AC so it was like an oven in there. If you want to open the window, it can be opened or closed from the room, but if you want to have it partially open you'll need to go outside to set the latch to stop it going fully open. As this is outside the room on a communal walkway its not the most secure arrangement. I didn't sleep well due to this and also the heat.
There is a table, but no electrical outputs nearby and also no chair, so I couldn't work in the room.
Its billed as a family hotel and that's how it feels I can understand those who like that sort of charm. I might go back, simply due to the convenience. Also the other hotels seem to be further away from town and I hear that at least one of them doesn't have AC either.

Disappointing stay due to lack of ventilation

I am disappointed with this hotel. The room had no air conditioning and also no fan, making it very hot and stuffy. Especially during hot days it was difficult to sleep comfortably.
In addition, the furniture was outdated and looked worn. The room did not make a fresh or well-kept impression.
For the price I expected more comfort. I would not book this hotel again soon.

Need to put the heating on when you have guests

This hotel is great as its ony across the road from the train station. But the room I stayed in is very outdated and as it was on the bottom floor near the restaurant. You can hear people coming and going in and out the doors, and they don't put the heating on so I had to sleep with my clothes on and with a wooly hat. So make sure you pack plenty of winter clothing.
