Accommodation close to the center with a feel-good factor
The room positively surprised us. Spacious, lovingly furnished, and clean – you can tell that someone has decorated here with care. Especially nice: The room is located in a quiet courtyard.
We can honestly say little about the staff – we arrived in the afternoon, had not booked breakfast, and the only contact was limited to checking out and the tourist tax. Short and uncomplicated.

very poor treatment by temporary owner

On the photos and in the description of the hotel you see an attractive scene, with a nice bar, terrace, reception etc.
We were already informed in advance that due to circumstances no breakfast could be offered. Too bad, but fortunately we could have breakfast at nearby hotel Emilia.
Before arrival I received a text message saying that the hotel is unstaffed after 11 am and the room is open as usual, and the key is inside.
On arrival (unclear what time the early check in was) the room appeared not to have been cleaned yet. So we entered the troop of the previous guests.
We never saw a bottle of bubbly.
There was no possibility to have a drink on the terrace.
The room was ok in itself, but it smelled very unsavory in the bathroom, I bought cleaning product myself.
When I addressed the (temporary) owner about the fact that the reality is rather different from how eea is presented on the internet, he initially responded understandingly and offered an extra discount.
Then he turned like a leaf on the tree and reacted passively aggressively and cynically.
When I came in the morning to pay the costs for breakfast, and to pick up the tickets for the Efteling (which was also quite a hassle because the gentleman believed that I was only entitled to 2 tickets while I had 2 vouchers and therefore 2 x the full deal including tickets), I indicated that I was sorry that it did not go completely smoothly. Then I got the wind from Alex, he thought I was being difficult, that I have been looking for problems from the first minute to get extra discount (never asked for it, he offered this himself, never got it by the way). He had never experienced anything like this before and considered sending me away from the hotel....!?
Very unpleasant, very unprofessional, very customer unfriendly.
I also mentioned the above to the employees of hotel Emilia (this belongs to the same family), where we were very nicely received and had a delicious breakfast.
It was hard to believe that we had been spoken to in this way.
Hotel 't Peperhuys is not really a hotel. There is no manned reception, no catering facility. It's just 7 rooms, that's all. No information in the rooms, no welcome folder, nothing.
Frankly, a travesty and Mr. Alex would probably better find a workplace with a little less human contact.

Charge money without permission and do not respond to emails.
For two stays in July 2026, it was clearly indicated at the time of booking that my credit card was for guarantee purposes only and that no amount would be charged. Yet without consultation and without my permission, the full amount was debited from my credit card in early December.
After contact, the hotel admitted that this was the result of an error in their reservation system and was promised that the payment would be reversed manually. Despite this commitment, I have never received the money back, even after the deadline has expired.
I then sent several emails:
– to obtain the refund
– to report that I have requested a chargeback
– to eventually cancel the bookings
I have never received a response or confirmation to any of these emails.
The fact that money is charged without permission, promises are not kept and communication is completely lacking means that I have lost all confidence in this hotel. This is not how you deal with (potential) guests.
I advise against this hotel as long as this method and lack of customer service are not structurally improved.

Good experience!
A little note though,
The cozy bar in the hotel was already closed at 8 pm.
That's a shame if you want to go to your dinner and have another drink.
However, there were bubbles and 2 glasses in the room!
Have those gratefully consumed!

This hotel is very good clean room very friendly and near the Efteling 15 Minutes on foot
