Great stay

Booked a seniors package of 3 nights/4 days with breakfast and three course dinner. Great room with two great armchairs and a renewed bathroom with shower on the ground floor. For the elderly a great ambiance. Very informal atmosphere and in February very quiet. Staff always had time for a chat. Breakfast fine as well as three course dinner. Hotel is run by a family that values service and quality. Cozy atmosphere.

Holiday with celiac disease

A fantastic experience to be received so hospitably by the owners and their staff. The atmosphere in the entire hotel and associated restaurant "bij Els" can be described as homely and extremely cozy.
The food is, in a word, "top". I have celiac disease and therefore have to eat gluten-free. This was absolutely no problem.
I am very grateful that I was able to experience this. I will definitely come back again.

When you want the countryside at its best

Then you should visit this place outside the holiday season as well! We had a wonderful stay, excellent room, good dinner, a typical dutch breakfast, and above all , friendly people, and quietness!! There you get a feel for the good aspects of the countryside, no pretense, no humbug, honesty, and food on the basis of perfect ingredients. The owner goes for quality, and achieves this quality in our view. And outside the holiday season you tast the slowness of the countryside, and that is really a blessing in our view!

Beautiful food at Brasserie Restaurant bij Els

The food was great at the Brasserie Restaurant bij Els at Hotel de Meulenhoek, Exloo. It's a new look and great service. We enjoyed sitting outside on a lovely summers evening. There were quite a few others enjoying the outdoor dining

Reasonable/good

This looks like a family hotel that depends on summer visitors, located in a nice village in one of the most beautiful parts of Holland. Rooms are OK and clean. Beds are good.
We had a room in lower part of the hotel, partly under street level. According to the owner is this the coolest part of the hotel, the other rooms are situated under the roof. There is no AC. We had dinner here while passing two months ago and decided to try the hotel.
We where welcomed nicely but after checking in we had to decend the narrow wooden stairs, while carrying our luggage. The owner accompanied us to the room but failed to ask if she could help us with the luggage (we are well above 70 years old). Nevertheless a good stay.
