Fine hotel; bike rental very poor
All four rented bikes had many flaws: from a flat tire, a rotating saddle, a missing handle, a stroke in the tire and lighting that did not work. We indicated this at the reception and were told that it was an external party where we could go with our complaint. However, the bikes do have a sticker from the hotel, so this is unclear if you rent the bikes. So advice is: do not rent bikes here!

Dirty unkempt room.
Firstly the good points were excellent shower and the bus stop to central Amsterdam was nearby, unfortunately that’s it everything else about our room was 1 star at best.
The room was very dirty , everything was covered in a thick layer of dust , the floor was the same, we had to use a damp towel to clean the drawers before we could use them. The safe didn’t work and I had to get the desk to send maintenance up to repair it. The bathroom had no towel rail or shelf so wet towels had to be hung in the wardrobe . The hotel maids just emptied the bins and pulled the covers on the beds straight, they made no attempt to clean anything.Even the carpet outside the room was filthy and stained everywhere, once past reception the hotel was no way a 4 star.
Our room was located at the end of the corridor on the fifth floor, the noise outside was horrendous as deliveries for the supermarket next door seemed to be all night.

Not recommended
The rooms are dirty; one wonders if cleaning is done between guests. We traveled as a family and rented 4 rooms. 1st room had a very strong smell of cannabis and a sock around the smoke detector....
In the other rooms, the floors were dirty, as well as the bathroom...
The breakfast is absolutely not worth the €25 per person.
It's a shame; the hotel could be really nice, the rooms are a good size, and despite its distance from the center, it is well served by public transport.

“Shocking experience”
We paid 1247.48 EUR for a supposed 4-star stay at Hotel Artemis Amsterdam. Instead, we arrived to ongoing construction work directly outside our room, heavy dust, dirty floors, a broken safe, and an extra bed that looked more like a military field bed than proper hotel accommodation.
We complained immediately and were promised that everything would be fixed the next day. Nothing was done.
When we complained again the following evening, several staff members entered our room, behaved aggressively, refused to leave while we packed, counted down from 5 minutes, and forced our family out of the hotel late at night.
We ended up stranded at Amsterdam Central Station with luggage and no place to stay, and had to urgently book new hotels costing an additional 1235.59 EUR.
In total, this situation cost us 2483.07 EUR.
To make things even worse, we later received an official ban from the entire XO Hotels chain simply because we complained about hygiene, construction dust, and broken facilities.
Absolutely shocking treatment of paying guests. We have photos, receipts, written documentation, and the official hotel ban notice.
