Good
Simply a good hotel; breakfast poor as with most Central Asian hotels; rooms big and clean; nice courtyard; quite location; easy to walk to sights like the botanical garden and some good restaurants - recommended

I am returning.
I had a lovely stay at the Elite Hotel; staff was friendly and helpful; the rooms were clean; not like the other hotel i stayed at in June 2008; it was over rated? but the Elite was just perfect and would recommend to anyone; in fact i gave there name to my travel agent. I do plan to return this year and again stay at the Elite Hotel. The value for money; i found was Excellent and i would also like to say; it;s not to bad in location; there is nice restaurants near by and parks? but i have a very nice young girl who lives in Tashkent; so i guess i have the very best in guides who also found the Elite Hotel for me........Enjoy your stay at Tashkent...........Steve......Australia....

Nive rooms, but way too expensive, watch out for price scams
I booked a room at this hotel through the hotel website, but they charge you a lot more then the prices on the website which, as they say in the hotel, is old.
The room was worth the 60 dollars stated on the website, but for 100 dollars (which they charged) the carpets should not look as horrible as they did, and there certainly should not be nest (of which animal?) in the corners of the hallway...
Breakfast is nice. Location is quite poor for who likes to walk: it is very far away from the city center or the subway.
Staff is polite, but not very helpful.

Horrible and full mind of ripping off
This hotel was horrible and amatuer.
when I checked in, the reception lady looked at my voucher of one hotel booking website organization and she seemed not to understand anything about my booking. But she took my passport so that all the necessary details can be registered as per the rule of this country. When I got into the room, it seemed to be OK for one second, but found TV was not connected properly so I cound not watch anythhing for a while. I found it was just wrong wiring so I fixed it by myself and worked OK. Toilet does not flush properly, shower room was clogged and nearly overflown. The day after, when I was about to go out, I found there was no registration ticket (required for all foreigners)
given when the passport was returned, so I asked the reception lady to give one to me. But again, she was looking at me with doubtful eyes.... Finaly got it and went out. When I came back, again this lady goes like "You are supposed to check out today" even though I had a booking until next day. Again I showed my bookinjg and had a hard time explaining as she has only basic English. The next monring When I was checking out,
the reception guy try to charge me full amount even though I already paid 10% of deposit through the hotel booking website organization. But this guy was absolutely horrible and he did not even try to make the effort to solve this problem or descrepancy, but just put his 1000% of his mind forceing me to pay the full amount. And on top of it, he tried to charge me doubly for the beer that I had at this hotels restaurant and I had to argure hard with this terrible receptionist. As I was running out of time for the next destination, I had to pay full amount of the stay which is completely rip off. I will never ever stay in this hotel.

1st Trip to Tashkent
Date: August 28th to September 6th 2006
My first visit to Tashkent to meet with a friend found on the Internet.
The airport baggage handling system took some time for the bags to arrive on the carousel. Local taxies were very numerous but the fair should be bargained for before stating the journey as all taxies that I used did not have any fare meters.
I arrived at the Hotel and "checked in" as per normal. My passport was taken away so that details could be resisted with the authorities as per conditions of the visa. Staff at reception were very friendly and spoke good English. The hotel is location on a small side street with a large park near by. The tram system into the city centre is about 1000 metres away as too are numerous small shops and café
Picked up key and went up one flight of stairs to the room allocated to me. The room size was large and contained a double and a single bed. TV, telephone, and mini fridge were also in the main room. I separate room contained a shower, wash hand basin and toilet.
At breakfast time I was shown the dinning room by a member of staff at reception as this is location at rear of the hotel in another building. The two young ladies serving breakfast were very friendly and spoke good English. The service given by these two women was excellent. I enjoyed trying differing items from the buffet table, and the cooked breakfast as requested. I took the opportunity to use the little Russian I had learnt communicating with the two waitresses which was most welcomed and polite advice given when asked.
One evening my host went back with me to my room, we had purchase and melon to eat. The front desk offered to cut the melon for us. This was carried out in a very professional manner and presented to us speedily
On my last day I “pop” my head around the door of the kitchen and thanked the staff for the work they carried out during the week.
My host made enquires at the front desk about a day trip to the mountains, this was arranged by the front desk staff and a very enjoyable day was experienced by host and me.
Would I return to this Hotel? My answerer is yes. In fact I will be returning during the early part of October 2006. If my relationship continues to improve with my new found friend I think that I will be spending even more time at this Hotel.
A word of caution, photography is a delicate subject, I took two pictures inside of a Metro station and was taken away to be questioned. I have read in such circumstances that a fine is taken from you. I was asked a few questions, the two photos were examined, my bag search, however no money was taken or asked for. In one of the many street markets I asked if I could take photographs but the subject did not approve I therefore respected their wishes.
