A vacation from our vacation!

We had a wonderful two-night stay at River Birches during our 7 week New Zealand journey. Jason and Rebeca created a private, beautiful, and quiet oasis for their guests. The property was impeccably appointed, with every detail and need considered.
Jason was incredibly helpful, facilitating dinner reservations, fly fishing experiences, local hikes, and providing great insights relating to our further travels in New Zealand.
Jason and Rebeca made us feel like treasured house guests. Our personalized breakfast was delicious and plentiful. Our spacious and comfortable room had a luxurious bathroom, shower, and bath, along with a beautiful outdoor cedar private hot tub surrounded by local plantings and the sounds of the Tongoriro River and local birdlife.
We left feeling rested and ready for the second half of our journey. River Birches was the perfect choice for a vacation from our vacation.

Fantastic Stay at the River Birches

We were made to feel very welcome as soon as we arrived at the River Birches. The accommodation itself was outstanding, with everything you could possibly need in the room. We felt very pampered. The hot tub was an absolute treat—luxurious and relaxing especially sitting under the stars on a chilly autumn evening. The lodge’s amenities were excellent, and waking up to a brilliant tasty breakfast was great. We would definitely recommend this place to any traveler looking for a peaceful and enjoyable getaway.

Beautiful

Stunning, secluded property -- feels like an oasis. Way more luxurious than we expected. Rebecca and Jason are very kind hosts, who care enough to focus on the small touches too: e.g. the hot tub was ready when we reached. Excellent breakfast. Highly, highly recommended.

We were only here for three nights but loved the time we had here. It was welcoming, spotless and our fridge was stocked everyday with breakfast foods, even bacon. The kitchen was really well stocked as was the rest of the house. For us, instead of being lulled to sleep by the sound of the waves at night, we were able to hear the river and drop off to sleep with that beautiful sound, it really was a luxury home away from home. Thank you

We Wish We Could Live There

We don't have the words to describe how beautiful River Birches Lodge is. The design is impeccable. Jason and Rebeca are great hosts, warm and friendly, and made us feel right at home. The room was very well appointed, and the cedar hot tub was an unexpected bonus. They included a lovely breakfast each day and provided great advice about our trip. We stayed in a wide variety of places during our 16 days in NZ (many of them very nice), and by far River Birches was the nicest of the lot. Six stars out of five.
