Stay more than one night!!

Unfortunately we could only stay one night. Would have loved to stay longer.lovely walks around the village met some of the locals who were a delight to talk to.
Louise was so helpful - kept us informed about a hundred kilometre wind about to hit. As it turned out I think it wasn’t as bad as it was expected. But it was thoughtful of Louise to let us know.
I thoroughly recommend a stay here.

A lovely rural experience - great touring stopover before or after Arthur's Pass.

We loved this place - there are just two studio rooms available in a building outside this family home with views of the mountains. We enjoyed sitting outside and watching the alpacas and chickens. The accommodation is traditional rather than modern but we were very comfortable. Springfield was nice to walk round with its doughnut feature in the park and information boards about the history of the town. There is a very useful shop attached to the petrol station. The only cafe closes at 5pm so we had a good lunch en route in Oxford and brought bread, cheese and cold meats from the supermarket there. This was one of the most memorable stays of our roadtrip around NZ.

Cozy motel with magnificent view

After 2 days being stranded in Haast and missed my flight back to Malaysia due to very bad weather and road closure, I drove all the way from Haast together with my mom and found this motel by chance. I instantly love this beautiful motel! The view is so spectacular, with the distant snow-capped mountains in the background, horses, a few white alpacas (or llama?) and chickens. It is located right next to the Tranz Alpine train line. The motel owner, Louise, is a very friendly and kind-hearted person. The room is very cozy and exceed my expectation. Too bad I can only spend one night at this wonderful accommodation. If I've got a chance to visit NZ again, I will surely stopped by this place. Recommended!

Lovely Accommodation Lovely View

Clean and Cosy Rooms. Everything you need to have a good stay. Wonderful helpful hosts. Rooms have heat pumps which keep them toasty Stunning views of the mountains and to top it all off a hot tub after a days skiing. What more could you ask for! We will be back

A great farm stay within town

Bahara is best described as a farm stay within the town of Springfield, with three adjacent units set on a property running alpacas, chickens and several children.
It offers great views of the distant mountains and being located right next to the train line provides the opportunity for some occasional train spotting, not something you see many of on the South Island.
Louise is a very friendly host in the tradition of Kiwi hospitality. Although there is no guest laundry as such, she offered to let me use her washing machine even when she was out. Next thing I knew she was bringing the basket over to hang my clothes out to dry, which of course I couldn’t stand by and let her do.
The town itself is prone to blackouts and during a big storm one night the power went out then straight after, there’s Louise at the door with extra torches.
The room was compact and clean and is within walking distance of the train station cafe / museum and local store.
The town itself is quite small but is well located for local ski fields, and Darfield is not far away for more dining out options.
Recommended!
