The people are creating atmosphere... much more than walls ...

My partner and I had the pleasure of staying at Holmenkollen Park from 2 to 4 June 2026, and it was truly a wonderful experience.
As someone working within the Dalata Hotel Group – now part of the Scandic family – it was especially nice to experience Scandic hospitality as a guest and spend a memorable few days in such a beautiful setting.
What made our stay exceptional, above all, were the people. I would like to sincerely thank and recognise Magdalena, Marcos and Jonas (as the hotel guide) from the Restaurant Team for their friendliness, professionalism and genuine warmth. They helped create a welcoming atmosphere and made every meal a pleasure.
I would also like to express my appreciation to all members of the Front Desk Team, both during the day and at night, especially Panagiotis from the night reception. Everyone we encountered was helpful, approachable and always ready to assist with a smile.
The breakfast selection was outstanding, offering a wonderful variety of products and flavours. I particularly enjoyed discovering some Norwegian favourites, including mackerel in tomato sauce and the traditional Mills caviar spread. The dinner menu was equally impressive – the grilled watermelon was a delightful surprise, and enjoying a glass of Ringnes beer added an authentic Norwegian touch to the experience.
Our room was spacious, comfortable and beautifully presented. We especially appreciated the vintage skiing memorabilia displayed throughout the room corridors and public areas of the hotel, reflecting Holmenkollen's unique history and character. The hotel lobby itself was elegant and inviting, creating a wonderful first impression and a relaxing place to spend time.
Thank you to everyone at Holmenkollen Park for making our stay so enjoyable. We left with lovely memories and would be very happy to return in the future.

Worn out, it definitely needs some upgrades

The location and building architecture of Scandic Holmenkollen Park are undoubtedly its saving graces. Is that it? Oh no I forgot, it's best to write a well balanced review... So on the other hand: the hotel feels inside worn out and neglected (except the lobby) . My room was very tired, with scuffed furniture, squeaky doors, and an outdated bathroom that needs an upgrade. It feels like a generic, cheap chain hotel inside a pretty historic building. Too bad, it started well from the outside...

Never going to back

Never going back. Staff was not serviceminded. Appeared that this place lacked a lot in management. Dirty all over and no real food in the restaurant aside buffet or terrible pizza.
What took the level to a new low was the takeaway lunch being a pizza dough made as a sandwich.
View however the hotel did not manage to destroy. Next time in Oslo for business or pleasure I only go there for a nice hike up the scenic location

I am sorry to see that your stay left you with such a negative overall impression. The summer period is by far our busiest season, and our team works hard to accommodate a very high number of guests throughout the hotel. While this can put considerable pressure on the operation, our aim is still to provide a welcoming and professional experience.
Regarding the restaurant, our summer concept consists of a dinner buffet together with a smaller pizza selection rather than our regular à la carte menu. I understand that this concept was clearly not to your preference. The takeaway lunch is also intended as a simple and practical option rather than a full restaurant meal.
I do, however, appreciate your comments regarding cleanliness and service. While I understand that you have decided not to return, I am at least pleased that you enjoyed our unique location and the surroundings at Holmenkollen.
Should you change your mind in the future, you are of course welcome back.

Great breakfast, excellent views but far from city centre

We were visiting Oslo as a family and chose to stay at Scandic Holmenkollen hotel. The hotel is located on top of a hill with stunning views of the city centre. The breakfast spread is huge with a lot of gluten free options as well. There is a separate section of the lobby where we can gather with food from outside, play games and just relax. The hotel is made as a hillside retreat in the non-ski season, and is of course a skiing friendly hotel in the season. The downside of this is that the hotel is really far from the Oslo city centre. The nearest metro station is a 10-15 mins walk up and down the hill, with the metro having low frequency as well. It comes every 15 mins only. Hence travelling to the main city can easily take up to an hour with public transport. However it’s great if you have driven down to the hotel in your own car or are comfortable taking taxis. Taxis can be very costly but are easily available. If you’re not there for skiing and are a first time visitor to Oslo, it’s better to stay in the city centre. Also the rooms have over low lighting. But if you’re looking for a retreat with great views and food, Scandic is no doubt a good option. Scandic also offers connected rooms which is great for family.

I am delighted to hear that you enjoyed most of your stay. Our location at the top of Oslo certainly offers a very different experience from staying in the city centre, with nature and outdoor activities right on our doorstep.
As you mention, the trade-off for these surroundings is the distance from the city centre. The metro is around a 10-minute walk from the hotel and normally takes approximately 30 minutes to central Oslo, with departures every 15 minutes. For guests primarily looking to explore the city on foot, a city-centre hotel may indeed be more convenient, while Holmenkollen is a great choice for those who prefer a quieter setting away from the busy centre.
It was a pleasure having you and your family stay with us, and we hope to welcome you back to the top of Oslo in the future.

Rooms, lobby and restaurant was dirty and did not seemed to be cleaned. Staff was no way near being kind and serviceminded. Suggest strongly to train the staff and up the game. Lovely view can’t compensate at all for our experience
Furthermore food was only buffet and pizza even though restaurant was full. So if you want to eat at a dirty place with risk of getting sick this is the place
