THEFT IN THE ROOM – UNSAFE PROPERTY, DO NOT BOOK!!!
We were robbed inside our hotel room. 2,500 Mexican pesos were stolen from our luggage during our stay. This was not a misunderstanding or a lost item: our money was taken from inside our private room.
What makes this extremely serious is that the hotel has restricted access through security codes. The guests have access to their rooms, but the hotel staff also has access to the property…. Someone was able to enter our room and steal our money, and the hotel has failed to provide us with any explanation for how this could have happened.
We immediately reported the theft to reception and subsequently filed an official police report with the local authorities. Instead of treating such a serious incident with concern, a member of the hotel staff actually laughed when we reported that we had been robbed. This was completely unacceptable and showed an appalling lack of professionalism and respect.
What makes the situation even more alarming is that, after reading other guests’ reviews, we discovered multiple previous reports of theft at this property, including guests who reported having money or valuables stolen even from inside their room safes. At this point, this cannot simply be dismissed as an isolated incident. It raises very serious questions about what is happening inside this hotel and about the security provided to its guests.
At check-in, we were required to sign a document stating that the hotel would not be responsible for valuables that were not kept in the safe. But a disclaimer does not make a theft inside a supposedly secure hotel room acceptable. Guests should not have to worry about their belongings being taken from their rooms.
The entire experience was disturbing, and the hotel’s response made it even worse. We came here as paying guests and left feeling robbed, unsafe and completely disappointed.
If you value your safety and your belongings, think twice before booking this hotel. I absolutely do not recommend it.
