Good Samaritan

Not a review of the hotel but of a very friendly and helpful staff member. On Tuesday the 25th of March I arrived in Mayto to discover my rental motorcycle I’d spent the morning riding from PV, had a flat tire. After I brief moment of panic about what to do I saw the sign for the Mayto Hotel and decided to head there and seek assistance. At the front desk I was able to explain my predicament and immediately one male staff member lept on his bike and had me follow him (riding my bike with the flat) to find someone to help me out we tried a couple of places and at the second one found someone who had a truck be and could fix my flat. When I turned around to offer thanks to this kind man, he was already gone. No request for money no expectation of thanks just a guy ready to drop everything to help a stranger in need. Say what you will about the Hotel but they have some very good people working there!

Blows hot and cold. Be prepared

We stayed here a few nights and were surprised both positively and negatively. The good: Beach is wonderful, grounds are well maintained and attractive. Very nice pool and lots of lounging options on the beach and pool furniture. The restaurant has a wide selection and is very reasonably priced. Staff are friendly and eager to help. The negatives... poor maintenance in the rooms. Our sliding patio door was almost impossible to open (and close). There was a 2cm gap at the top and bottom of the room's entrance door. There was no place for our clothes other than a closet with a few hangers. The wifi is limited to 1 Mbps. Hot water in the shower is hit and miss. This is not a 4 star hotel as I've seen referenced in a variety of websites... more like 2 star.

Good for honeymoon or romantic weekend

The hotel is rated 5 stars and I disagree with that , I been travelling a lot al over the world and definitely is not a 5 stars hotel , now , don’t get me wrong , is a good hotel with all you need to have a nice weekend .
The rooms are spacious , the bathrooms are nice , is clean , have a restaurant , swimming pool , and as the waitress mentioned , they have they own power plant in case the public energy fails , also he said that the other hotels don’t have air conditioning.
As I mentioned you have everything to be comfortable holidays .
But , still far from a 5 stars hotel in my opinion will be a 3.5 stars .
The beach is not to friendly because of the tide some people go into the ocean but I prefer the swimming pool to be safe .
Around the town there is no much to view , is just a street with some houses and convenience stores and that was it , which make this place ideal for a Honeymoon , romantic escape or go with a good book !!

The hotel prefers to fill rooms with a long-term sustainable guest community

The hotel is cute however having no “Reservation Right of Admission” policy or regulating the noise of guests, turn the experience from something nice into something TERRIBLE.
We had the luck to stay one night, a large group arrived in razers, and without caring about the time or volume of their music they did it as if only they existed. Loud music, unnecessary screaming at 23:00 and until dawn.
We complained to the hotel and they did nothing. Apparently this is a common practice and hotel is happy to fill rooms instead of having a family-friendly, healthy place that is sustainable in the long run.
I wouldn't go back to the hotel, no matter how far out in front of the sea.

A perfect stay for our short getaway

Short, one night trip, but well worth it. The road into Mayto has been vastly improved and quite enjoyable. Upon check in, Cassandra at the front desk was friendly, very attentive and a pleasure to meet. Our room was clean, comfortable, and the deck was the perfect place for a glass of wine and a rousing game of UNO with the grandson.. We took a short drive to Tehuamixtle for the freshest oysters ever!!!
On site restaurant has lots to offer. We enjoyed the pool, took a long beach walk before packing up to head for home in Nuevo Vallarta. The hotel is basic but well kept and all one needs for a couple of nights away. Overall, the service is fantastic. Thank you Hotel Mayto for being the perfect little getaway when getting away is not always easy.
