Our second time at the Reef Hotel and Spa.
Our room was on the 8th floor, once again clean and comfortable. It had great views over the Valley and the Statue of the Risen Christ.
Breakfast was plentiful and was kept well stocked.
Easy to walk into Marsalforn, 5 mins and you are at the harbour where you will find cafes, bars, restaurants as well as the 310 bus to Victoria.
All the staff are friendly and happy to help when they can, from Housekeeping to Waiting Staff to Front of House Team, even the General Manager! Too many to name personally but you know who you are :)
We hated it so much we are coming back in October!

Aquaterra Sushi Restaurant and bar at Reef Hotel & SPA
The service was great, and the staff were friendly and attentive. The poolside setting and background music created a lovely, relaxed atmosphere. We also enjoyed the amazing view from the upstairs area, especially while watching the sunset.
Overall, it was a very pleasant experience with good food, cocktails and a beautiful setting. We would definitely recommend Aquaterra and would be happy to visit again.

Not peaceful
On the first day we had skip lorries and bulldozers removing building waste. Jet2 denied any type of building was going on. It clearly was. Asked to be moved to a different hotel and we were told we would have to pay to do this. The website advertised it as peaceful. It is not. The pool area on the 3rd floor is minuscule and the pool itself is probably 3m wide. If a family is in there you feel a bit awkward getting in. You also have to either take a lift or stairs and there are no toilets at either pool. You have to go down stairs or the lift. There are 30 sunbeds there around some horrible fake grass. The photos on the website make it look huge. It isn’t. Also people are smoking. The pool on the 10th floor has music playing all day and people put towels out so even if you wanted to you couldn’t sit up there. Also it’s a lot smaller than the photo on the jet2 website. The breathtaking views mentioned are likely those of cranes and the back of what looks like a soviet era government block with no windows and some tatty scrubland.
There is building work all around and Marsalforn and actually most of Gozo looks like a bomb site. I’m at the 3rd floor pool now and can hear drilling and lorries.
Marsalforn probably once was nice but it’s now a crowded noisy tourist trap. Oh yes and that sweeping sandy beach?? Er yes well it’s a stony little strip with hundreds of people on it.
Basically if you want a peaceful escape don’t come here.
The manager said we could move rooms but it wouldn’t have made any difference so we didn’t bother. The room isn’t the issue. It’s the surrounding area and the totally misleading description. Worth pointing out that our room on the first floor facing the road did not even have a balcony to sit on. Almost every other room does so we were allocated a cheaper one clearly.
I thought I’d be wandering nice little streets but instead Marsalforn is a small strip of restaurants all serving the same overpriced stuff and frankly it’s ugly, unappealing and I wish I hadn’t bothered. I didn’t come here for Marsalforn ”family fun night” or “dirty fries”. There’s nowhere to go other than this strip on the front. I wish I’d read more about it before coming but relied on the jet2 advertising. I don’t think they’ve actually been there.

We are sorry that Marsalforn and the surrounding environment did not meet your expectations. While external construction and activity beyond the hotel are unfortunately outside our control, we fully understand how this may have affected the peaceful experience you anticipated.
During your stay, our Management team offered an alternative room in an effort to improve your experience, which you chose not to take as your concerns primarily related to the surrounding area. We have also noted your comments regarding our pool areas and sunbed availability.
Regarding the descriptions and imagery published by Jet2, these are managed by the tour operator, and we would encourage any concerns regarding their accuracy to also be addressed directly with them.
We regret that your overall Gozo experience was not what you had hoped for.
