Cozy beautiful guest house

It is a small cozy guest house close to the beach. Rooms were spacious and clean. The breakfast and dinner buffet had plenty of both Maldivian and western dishes. And it was delicious. The staff took very good care of us. Definitely going back!

Rayva inn to review

Among the various guest House I chose this for the positive reviews read on social and elsewhere, booked full board, knowing that we went to the Maldives in guest house so we did not expect the unbridled luxury of course, but at least the bare minimum.
To premise that both the owner and the cook were friendly always available.
Sorry to say but the rooms were small, I asked to change it because it was too small with a wall in front... opening the window, the other larger room with window, small bathroom without window and sometimes there was an unpleasant smell.
As for the meals it was not good, it will be that the guest House was empty (because of the Middle East war) and maybe we were a bit 'buzzed because there were only two, there was no buffet and I understand why there were 2, but at least have choices. Every day the cook asked what we wanted for lunch and dinner but with little choice the meals were always the repetitive ones. Just water, last day the coke.
To eat you had to go upstairs via a staircase not easy for everyone... looking at the other guest Houses they also had these stairs will be their standard.
We had a bad run, I definitely wouldn't recommend it.

To be improved

I came across positive reviews about this small guest house and this was the reason why I chose it. Unfortunately, the reality I came across is completely different, which is why, it is ethically correct to represent reality in a way that allows others a conscious choice. Small rooms, no chairs, no TV, air conditioning yes, fortunately. Mattresses without mattress topper. Hygiene non-existent, room cleaning was not done in 7 days, sheets never changed, towels changed only 1 time on request. No buffet. No choice. Very little food, really poor and bad breakfast with a jar of jam opened who knows how long and made available to everyone! Upstairs there should be the area used for meals, but to access it there is a steep and narrow staircase, inaccessible to those with mobility problems. Surely the host was friendly and helpful but if you offer a service this must be at least acceptable.

Guest House to forget.

Last January we were on holiday 13 days on the island of Omadhoo and the choice , as far as the island is concerned, was positive considering the beautiful coral reef and the beautiful reef that surrounds it, the variety and beauty of the fauna that you can see even without hiking. At the wharf where, dressed, you can dive for snorkeling, you can see a varied type of fish, nurse sharks and rays and it is a shame that in the evening the women of the village go to this place to pour buckets of wet garbage into the sea (and not only...) constituting a strongly negative note that highlights little attention to the environment and also to the tourist.
Not so positive was the choice of the Guest House Rayva Inn we contacted personally and with whom we agreed for full board.
The owner, Mr. Mohamed, had assured us of buffet meals (for this reason we canceled a previous reservation that did not guarantee us this type of meals) but since our arrival it was understood that this did not correspond to reality and that not only was there no buffet but also a choice between two or three types of dishes.
Breakfast was, from the first day, very poor and with a very limited choice so, generally, we then ended up consuming, several times, milk with bread, butter and honey.
In this regard, it is worth noting that, in order to avoid the consumption of a jam bottom in a package widely used previously, we bought honey considering this solution more hygienic and healthier.
For lunch and dinner the cook (very good and capable) made us a proposal and, somehow, we agreed but it was unpleasant to be told, for example, that there was no alternative to always eating the same fruit (watermelon and apples) moreover in reduced quantities (for example an apple in two) and only once a day because other types were too expensive. Again we made up for it by buying fruit in a shop! If we wanted to eat fish other than usual, generally tuna, we had to pay for the meal separately.
As for the accommodation, the room, although not very large, was equipped with a comfortable bed but unfortunately the bad smell coming from the bathroom, was very often unbearable and it was better to stay outside.
A separate chapter deserves cleaning both in the room and in other parts of the structure. In the room it was limited to a shag on the floor and making the bed and the furniture was absolutely not cleaned either before our arrival or during. Towels were changed every 5/6 days and sheets were changed only once. All only on request. In the uncertainty of what product for the bathroom you were using (lacked labels, writing etc. ..) we always used our products that fortunately we brought in case of need!!
The bathroom has always been cleaned with a jet of water on the sink and toilets so then there was water everywhere and the mirror, already dirty when we arrived, was never cleaned. We obviated by getting some detergent, a sponge and a rag!!
Even more critical was the hygiene in the common areas and, in particular,
where you ate, on the veranda on the first floor reached by a steep and dangerous staircase, certainly difficult for those who are not young and athletic.
Here, dust and dirt were everywhere. The cups for drinking a Nescafè were, for example, always chosen with careful care among the cleanest!
We exposed our discomfort to Mr Mohamed who confirmed that he had to change many things and attributed it all to the unprofessionalism of those who were
I would like to say that I think that this is a good thing, but it does not seem to us enough to justify a critical situation like the one we have found ourselves in.
In all our travels, around the world, it had never happened to us. You may object by asking why we didn't leave. Because all the other facilities were full and in any case, fortunately, the knowledge and friendship with a nice couple of Italians, made us endure it all.
Reading other reviews we feel like we have been to another guest house and we fear that many reviews are misleading if not even fake.
We have never seen “swans” or various decorations on the bed. There was not even a shadow of the fridge in the lobby as well as of the dates, the coconut dish or the bottles of water given on offer that we read about. We sourced the water bottles ourselves as the alternative was to buy them from them and/or drink the bottled water in the glass bottle provided during meals.
We do not have an explanation for this situation, for such neglect of us and we think that since there were very few people in our time, we tried to maximize the costs.
The night before leaving the structure we noticed that the common areas were starting to be cleaned more, that two large "new" jars of jam were added for breakfast and finally the lobby in front of the rooms was finally cleaned of sand and dust.
We believe this was due to the arrival of a large group of tourists the following day so we deduced that at Rayva Inn there are A-list tourists and B-list tourists. We felt treated as C-list tourists.
There is a positive side of Rayva Inn: its proximity to the beautiful bikini beach and at least in this we were lucky having to go every morning (about 7.00) to arrange towels on the few deckchairs that remained available being most of them “booked” with personal effects since the night before. We also spoke extensively about this with Mr. Mohamed as at the time of booking he had reassured us by telling us that the structure had its own beds available but this also turned out not to be true and his advice was to move the personal belongings of other tourists if they were not physically present on the beds.
Discussing with those who behaved in an uncivilized and polite way did not seem like a good idea and every morning, we got up, in turn, early in the morning!!
Needless to say, we will definitely not return to the Rayva Inn that we do not recommend and that the disappointment was great. Advertising your property without then keeping your word is the most negative thing that can be done to lose customers.
