Borneo nature lodging at its best

What a fantastic experience. Accommodation on the river, within the jungle. We were incredibly well catered for, with basic but comfy facilities and delicious food. This does not have the amenities of a Western chain hotel… but nor should it! Ideally placed for the river boat trips and sightings of orangutans enjoying durian from the fruit above our bedroom. Highly recommended.

Fantastic place

Fantastic place right on the river and surrounded by jungle. Staff were excellent and food was very good. Our chalet was very comfortable. The river trips were amazing and we managed to see lots of different animals.

Solo traveller in Kinabatangan

Its a simple but very comfortable accommodation. The room was spacious, had a porch at the entrance to sit.
The whole place has a very relaxing vibe.
The food was outstanding and the staff was really friendly.
I really liked their eco friendly solutions for water and electricity.

Not Flash , but nice

We travelled with a budget company. It was a somewhat in between a backpacker and a motel. No fridge, twin beds, there was a kettle but minimal coffee tea and no milk. they use dried creamer. Shower had to be turned on, and then activated by the handle, but it was good hot water
All meals are cooked on site, and very local. breakfasts were good, lots of eggs and choice. Dinners were 50/50 some good others really tough.

Fantastic stay at Borneo Nature Lodge

After reading reviews on different accommodation in the area, we decided on Borneo Nature Lodge and we are so glad we did. From the moment we stepped off the boat, there was an Orangutan feeding on fruit in a tree above us, this wasn't the only Orangutan we saw in the accommodation throughout our stay. We also saw a group of macaques around our lodge and a flying lemur sleeping in a tree. We went on 4 river cruises, the boatman and our guide were fantastic in spotting many different birds, animals etc, we managed to see the Borneo Big 5! Borneo Nature Lodge is small, with maximum of 28 people staying at a time, meaning there was only ever 6 people on a boat compared to 12+ on other boats we saw on the river. The staff were very accommodating, the food was delicious and was varied each day. The lodges are basic, but you're in the middle of the rainforest. The beds were very comfortable, there was air conditioning and contained everything you needed. We wish we stayed for longer!
