Definitely a place worth visiting

This place is like a magical little Eden in the middle of Old Town, with the most incredible views! Two of the private rooms even have direct access to the balcony overlooking the ocean creek. The dorm is definitely the most beautiful dormitory I've seen, because of the huge windows and lots of airflow and natural light. The coffee shop has incredible Arabica coffee for the morning and fresh croissants, which i wouldn't have expected to find, let alone good ones!

Avoid if you value your own safety

No electricity and water most of the time. The place is in very unsafe area - it is full of homeless people who will harass you for money and shout racist slurs. I had booked a private room with a “private balcony”. I couldn’t sleep all night as the window was facing the street and there were some homeless locals who had put a matrass sleeping under my window, smoking illegal substances, shouting and screaming all night. The worse is that there was another guest from the dorm rooms coming to my “private balcony” smoking, listening to loud music and shouting too and that was also around midnight. I told him that this was unacceptable and he turned aggressive. The worst is that he was there in the morning too and there were over 10 cigarettes in the ash tray. I woke up coughing from the strong smell and was feeling sick the next days. The staff is totally useless and did not take any actions to solve anything. The worst is the receptionist who was extremely rude and arrogant. Do NOT book any pick up with them as they will cheat you and ask you double price - same is with the “excursions” which they also provide on stop - overpriced in comparison to the local prices.

Hustlers Hotspot

Basically a place for hustlers who like to go on a holiday with very minimal budget. Not a place for family or friends who like to enjoy privacy.

The place is closed, the owner has not taken down the adv.

We Booked via the website, but on arrival there was no place to stay anymore. Apparently it closed a while ago. The owner then says we did not specify we wanted to book in Old Town and says we booked for the backpackers location in Nyali.

Great location, very basic accomodation

This place has an awesome location - right in the heart of old town Mombasa, right next to Forodhani restaurant and a short walk from Fort Jesus. The views from the back terrace are lovely, and there is much to like about this place. However, the shower was barely functional and the mattresses, pillows were super lumpy and linens were well worn. At ~65 USD for a family room, this worked out fine for us (3 adults, 3 kids) but I would find it a bit too much to pay for a single person or couple.
Note: at the time of our visit, the place had no external signs, so a bit hard to find, but the manager kindly came to find us at Forodhani restaurant.
