Naturally beautiful resort

Have just returned from a safari and 7 night stay at Kinondo Kwetu we stayed at Alex House a lovely villa in a quiet location on the resort . The natural beauty of this resort and the staff are what make it special it is not a luxury resort and the villa needs some updating especially the bathrooms that need an overhaul and more powerful pumps to make the showers work properly . They also need more storage as no drawers to put clothes and although I am quite tall I struggled to hang my clothes as only a small cupboard in the bathroom with a very high rail. The food is a set menu daily and although quite good would be nice to have more choice .
It is a very relaxing place and the natural beauty makes up for the lack of facilities I should also point out that everywhere you walk is in the sand so no nice shoes required .
All the staff are amazing a special thanks to Didi for all her help when my sister in law fell and hurt her leg and anything we asked of her she was always willing to help or advise. Also special thanks to Timothy our waiter always greeted us with smiles and made us feel very welcome and Mohamed the barman who made lovely cocktails. The place is special and with a little bit of updating could be very very special

Fabulous

Excellent boutique hotel run by Didi and her team. A huge effort goes into amounting all look effortless so you are embraced in hospitality. As many of the reviews have said the staff are fantastic - every one is smiling, knows your name and genuinely seems to want to make your stay perfect.
The whole hotel and grounds are beautifully set out and furnished to the hugest standard with gorgeous linens, furniture and traditional items.
Our cottage was fantastic (watch the monkeys!) and robes available if you ask which I would wear to walk down a few steps and watch the sunrise every morning. The beach is quiet with no hawkers and there is a man made pier to allow you to walk out over the sharp coral.
The food is excellent too- breakfast has a small buffet with fresh fruits, juices, yoghurt, cereal and breads (I only discovered the health bread on the second last day and highly recommended). The cooked items are delicious but small portions so if you like a hearty breakfast order a few sides (they don’t mind!). Lunch and dinner are set but they will change if you don’t like something. We were going to have red snapper for the 4th time in a row (first world problems I know!) so mentioned to Didi and she changed in a heartbeat and another tasty dish was offered. Lovely house wines too (rose was great at lunch with feet in the sand!).
I had a good massage too and lots to do if you want more activity than sitting enjoying the tranquility.
Other little touches included drummers to entertain one evening, a bonfire and every evening the team must out our circa 40 lanterns to create the most authentic relaxing ambience.
All in all we had a truly fabulous stay and cannot recommend highly enough.

Hidden Gem

We had a wonderful 13 night stay, it felt like home, beautiful views from our cottage.
The cottage was cosy and quirky, plenty of space and very comfortable beds.
The beach was lovely and quiet, however, you do need beach shoes to go into the sea, which are provided if you require them.
Food was fresh and well presented each day, as we stayed so long, they always offered us an alternative each day
The staff were lovely, so helpful always checking on how we were doing
We are a very quiet couple, and there were families, so the team did a great job of finding quiet spaces for lunch & dinner.
The arrival of a very large group, did change the atmosphere for us, we felt they over took the place slightly.
We did love it here, however, families and large groups is not for us and sadly would prevent us from returning.
The team suggested they may look into Adult only weeks, if they did, we would be back in a shot!

Dreamy honeymoon destination!

Our stay at Kinondo Kwetu came after 8 days of safari and we were so ready to relax! Our stay here rejuvenated us perfectly and made it so hard to leave.
The stunning white sandy beach paired with the bright blue water was a dream. Upon arrival we were greeted by Anna. Walking into the "lobby" we could see the beautiful blue ocean and we started getting so excited for our stay here. Anna was so helpful! I had a little medical issue come up and she called Dr. Emma and she was here within a couple hours to check me out. (Dr. Emma and her team were so amazing btw!! So professional and helpful and eased all of my concerns). Anna also checked in with us every day to see how we're doing and if/what we wanted to plan for the next days activities and helped us organize whatever activity we wanted, whether it was tennis, snorkeling, or jet skiing. Thank you so much Anna!
The staff was so friendly, helpful and accommodating. After every meal they would go over the menu for the next meal and see if we required any modifications. All meals were set on different locations on the property which made it so fun. Their food was so delicious and so fresh. I was always excited for my next meal. We loved getting to know all the staff and truly enjoyed their company.
We stayed in the honeymoon suite which had a wrap around balcony and a common area downstairs that played music at certain hours of the day. The room was grand and spacious. Every morning when we would walk out to breakfast all we would hear is birds chirping and the sounds of the ocean. We felt like we were the only people there. It was paradise.
Watch out for the naughty monkeys haha! They stole my chips by the pool and won't hesitate to get whatever they can get their hands on. But they were cute so it was totally ok! The monkeys are swinging from tree to tree all day long and it's so fun to watch while you're by the pool. But don't leave any valuables out!
Highly recommend exploring the property and enjoying all the secret views the property has. We even reserved the sunset tower to watch the sunset one evening and the provided drinks and snacks and binoculars (also recommend!)
Overall, I couldn't recommend Kinondo Kwetu enough. It was the most perfect end to a safari adventure. Time stood still here and I felt like I was in paradise. I was so sad to leave and come back to reality but already can't wait to plan our next trip here!

Fabulous!!!

A stay at Kinondo Kwetu was the perfect end to our Kenyan holiday. We’d seen some amazing things on the safari leg of our trip and didn’t think the beach part could be any better. How wrong could we be…..from the moment we arrived we were welcomed by staff singing to us, along with a nice cold drink, to the moment we left, again to singing from the staff, we felt special, loved and like family.
The rooms are fabulous, each with perfect views of the sea
The pool is fabulous, probably the best hotel pool we’ve ever experienced.
The food was fabulous, I’m sure the chef was challenged by our group’s various needs, but the kitchen always managed to offer an alternative choice to those not wanting the day’s menu.
The staff are above fabulous – we’ve never experienced customer service like it.
Can’t wait for the day we return.
