Great ocean view/location, clean, highly recommendable.

I stayed in November for two nights and utterly satisfied. For a price of 25 JD per night (a single room), I got a clean and spacious room with great view of the ocean beyond the beautiful mosque. Staff speak limited English but are very friendly and eager to help. It is also located right at the center of downtown Aqaba and even offered breakfast! (I heard many budget hostels in Aqaba do not provide breakfast and indeed one hostel I stayed earlier didn't offer one, despite the same room rate with Al Shula).
I would highly recommend it to anyone traveling to Aqaba.

Avoid..I think this place has gone downhill!

Yikes - the reviews were okay from a few years ago, but absolutely nothing has improved. We were able to get a room upon turning up, however were really disappointed with the whole experience. The room was extremely dirty, there was an old AC flowing directly at our face while sleeping, there was no fixture on the light, and it was an absolute horror show of a bathroom. Also, folks smoking cigarettes left the smell everywhere. Yes, it’s cheap to stay, but no, it’s not worth it. Only plus is that it’s close to the marina and facing the sea (but also directly across the street from the mosque that blasts the call to prayer at 5AM). Avoid, avoid, avoid.

Ok, but could be better

For the price I payed for this hotel, I expected that place will be a bit cleaner. The sheets are dirty and bathroom is a mess. However, I came at 4am and they gave me a room till next day for a price of one night. Receptionist was sleeping in the back, if this happens to you just ring the fone on a desk and call reception ;-)
Very central and close to minibus station.
And oh, not to forget... Expect a very early wake up call from a beautifull mosque across the street..

Not as good as I heard

I read many positive reviews about Al Ashula and decided to stay there. The Room was spacious but old. It has air-conditioner but was weak. In particular, the bathroom definitely needed some maintenance. Wifi was available only in the lobby which is very hot without air-conditioning. The staff were kind though most of them could not speak English. Centrally located and a bit far from the beach.

I would love to go back

It was quite by chance that I landed at this hotel. I could not find parking at the others so it was lucky for them that I did get parking near the hotel.
I had a very good nights rest and I can not complain about the service the staff was very friendly and helpful.
I liked looking out on the beach side and the road, I would love to take pictures of the hotel the next time though.
I would also like to go back to see if the Mosque they were building across the road is completed.
