Very disappointing

Good point: Location and friendly staff
Bad points: The wifi did not pick up in the room, the TV did not work, the air conditioning of another time made more noise than fresh air, the equipment was outdated.
We slept badly due to poor quality material and bedding.

3 star hotel?

Rather than a 3-star hotel, I would classify it as a B&B without breakfast! Of the two bars where you had to have breakfast, one was on holiday and the other didn't open before 9.30am so either go to Sorano or fast in the archaeological area, which we did!
The reception is closed in the morning so I couldn't get the receipt, I called but there was no answer.
The town is a little gem but unfortunately the welcome could be improved!

Not quite as advertised - possibly our fault

On the plus side, very clean and good bed. On the downside we thought we had booked into the main part of the Hotel which turned out to be on another road ( not far away) and might be called Albergo Scilla ( but we never worked it out) which looks nice in the pictures. The room was very small and the decor shall we say limited. And was above a bar shut for the season. Which probably explained it. Sovana though is a lovely place.

The hotel is listed as being in Sorano. It is not located there. It is located in the village of Sovano, about 10 miles away. We finally found someone that spoke a little English that knew about the hotel but it was in a different village! When we arrived the hotel was closed and appeared to have been closed for a long time. Fortunately, we met someone that took us to another hotel in the same village.

Solid choice in this lovely village

Savona is a lovely village, quaint, peaceful but with restaurants enough for 2 nights. Stayed with my parents, them in a superior room and myself in a double for single use. I have to say the superior is not very different to a standard (fancier bed), if I was to recommend I would say for the difference on price choose the standard room. All rooms are plain but classic with good bathrooms. They are in my opinion due a repaint, lots of scuffs in the paintwork. A fresh coat of paint would really make a difference. Breakfast was good, fresh croissants, basic meat and cheese, juices, cereals and fresh coffee. Great location and great parking. We recommend the restaurant La Tavernetta for their wild boar main course and EehGia for the second night. We couldnt get the wifi to work unfortunately. Overall loved the village and would choose Scilla again, especially if the rooms were freshened up.
