Excellent location, Hotel was lovely

Just come back from a 4 days stay, we had 2 rooms. We arrived early and the rooms were ready. The rooms were clean and had all the facilities we needed. Breakfast was lovely. The hotel is situated within walking distance of everything and the neighbourhood was safe at night. Anna the host was lovely and accommodating even sorting out our return taxi to the airport. Would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to Rome.

CAREFUL! They cancel your reservation before you go!

We booked at Domus Popolo through an agency on October 15, 2024, almost a year in advance, by the end of August 2025. Everything seemed perfect: double room with breakfast confirmed and available. However, a week before our trip we received the surprise that the hotel communicated that there was no Availability (in covers) and cancelled the reservation, without giving us any explanation.
I find it a real shame and a huge lack of professionalism. What is the use of booking so far in advance if after a few days of your trip you are dropped?
I want to warn everyone: do not book at this hotel. There is a serious risk that they will be cancelled at the last minute, without reasons or solutions. Amazing that accommodation with supposedly good ratings acts in this way.

Terrible experience

First review I have written without even staying.
Booked this hotel 10/2024 for a 3 night stay commencing on 21/08/2025, for my daughter and her friend prior to their cruise, then for 2 nights after their cruise. Confirmation of this booking was received from the hotel on 23/10/2024.
Fast forward to 18/08/2025, the hotel cancelled our booking 3 days before we were due to arrive, advising it was overbooked.
I was in a blind panic trying to fnd somewhere else for two young ladies to stay, and luckily found somewhere else.
I would advise thinking carefully before booking the Domus Popolo, as they are clearly very unprofessional and do not have an ounce of decency in them.

Unacceptable

I booked in September 2024 for a stay in January 2025 a room for this property by the Hotels.com platform as I always do. All perfect. I paid in advance. A couple of days ago I received a notification that the establishment has cancelled my room. No explanation whatsoever. They say my payment was not confirmed, when the money if it left my account in September and was refunded in January. Disrespectful. Everything organized cancels me. A real hotel would never do that kind of internship. These pseudo hotels allow themselves to do this kind of thing. Unacceptable.
