3 weeks of vacation in Calabria
•great flora and fauna (breathtaking nature, clear air, beautiful sea...)
•grand view (large balcony, stunning view from the breakfast room...)

•delicious food (it is a fish restaurant, yet the chefs have also created very great pasta dishes and dishes with meat and vegetables)

•friendly staff (good room cleaning, requests were fulfilled, attentive and nice waiters...)
A very beautiful spot on earth, well-run, authentic restaurant and hotel by Mercurio and his family.
A big, special thank you goes to Laura, Pino, and Nico. The three of them do their job simply fantastically.

Nightmare vacation
The property does not correspond to the advertising on Booking; it is not located in Capo Vaticano but in Coccorino inside a mountain.
The room was spacious, bathroom with missing soap dish, broken toilet seat, towel rack not found, mirror with glass shelf with rusty supports.
Let's move on to the famous spa, a "disgrace," a simple jacuzzi behind a garden with the water practically green and unusable; the pool, a puddle, always had the robot inside in cleaning mode, but no one bothered to remove it. Let's move on to the beach with private access, another scam; you have to go down a municipal road with a 15 percent grade, and once you get down there, you find a wooden shack that they call a restaurant. There you find the lifeguard who accompanies you to a small patch of sand, and so the search for a free umbrella and 2 sun loungers begins. We had asked up at reception if water shoes were needed for the sea, but we were told that there was no need. We didn't go swimming because getting into the water was impossible; far from pebbles, there were huge boulders, and the sea was not the beauty we expected. Perhaps that is the ugliest bay in all of Calabria. We asked if it was possible to call the shuttle to return to the hotel, but the owner replied that it had to be booked and it was for a fee, but the most ridiculous thing is that it is a private vehicle of one of the employees, just any car that performs this task.
I advise against getting half-board; it's a rip-off, they treat you as if it were a nursing home.
Junk food: potatoes, mashed potatoes, chicken breast, stewed cod, or the famous hamburger and potatoes, fantastic!!!
Beware of Mr. Giuseppe, the owner, a rude, boorish, arrogant, and presumptuous person; in fact, I would add racist, seeing as at the umpteenth complaint we made, he called us Gypsies, so you judge for yourselves.
This establishment should be reported to the relevant local health authorities, the Labor Inspectorate unit of the Carabinieri, and the Financial Guard.

I expected better from this hotel, given what they say.
Property located inside a mountain, not at Capo Vaticano but in Coccorino; to get there, the road is full of potholes and very narrow. The property is located 200 meters from the beach, and to reach it you have to go down a slope with at least a 15% grade; once you get there, you find 3 rows of umbrellas, and the lifeguard, instead of watching the swimmers, minds his own business. Returning to the property, the owner, Giuseppe, sometimes seems uninterested because he is always on his phone, even while you are talking to him; the dishes are not the ones shown in the photos; having booked half-board, we did not receive a single dish of those shown in the photos. For the last two days, there was a stench of garbage coming from the dumpsters located outside the facility. Very limited parking; if other people come to dine from outside, since it is also an à la carte restaurant, you have to be lucky to find a parking space if by chance it crosses your mind to go out. The girls at the reception were very good and very kind, always available to remedy any inconvenience; the cleaning ladies were also very good and precise.

This is not how it’s done...
An overnight stay with half board, given the excellent reviews they had as a seafood restaurant... perhaps, and I say perhaps, things would have changed if you were an external customer... but as a hotel guest... with half board... the food was nothing short of disappointing... and to think I chose this hotel solely because I read positive reviews about the excellent quality of the food... and I traveled more than 80 km back and forth from the highway to reach it... considering we were just passing through.
Dinner started with a seafood pasta... I must say it was good... Even though the portions were tiny... we fell short with the second course... it was really low... they were supposed to be fillets of sea bass... (But I mean... do they really think there are people who don’t know sea bass... maybe there are many... fools...) which is a cheap blue fish... If it’s fresh and cooked well... it’s delicious... no... they served us instead of the sea bass fillet... a disgusting, slimy fish... which in my opinion... was Pangasius...

When at the nearby table... there were external customers who were not staying... they brought out... the sea bass... and the chef even came out to fillet it......
Served like second-class customers..... not even third-class....

A nightmare night
I strongly advise against this facility to anyone, especially families with small children. We booked based on the photos, but the reality was a nightmare.
As soon as we entered the room, we found the air conditioner in scandalous conditions: the fins and the interior were black with mold and accumulated dirt (I have attached photos to show the severity). Breathing that air is a huge health risk for minors. Due to the inability to turn on the air conditioning, we were forced to sleep with the balcony door open, making rest impossible due to the deafening noise from the adjacent restaurant. A night from hell.
Despite the reports, we did not receive suitable solutions and had to leave the facility urgently to protect the health of our children, seeking another hotel at our own expense. The cherry on top: the receipt was sent to us only after persistent requests, even though the payment had already been made.
We have already taken legal action via certified email for the refund and compensation for moral and material damages. If you care about your children's health, stay away.
