Gerace: the village of a hundred bells!

You climb along a winding road which, little by little, leaves the blue sea with crystal eyes behind you. The village stands proudly on high walls and welcomes us through the "Porta del Sole" which overlooks the valley, full of olive trees and runs to the sea. Triumph of the Middle Ages, Gerace with its hundred bells, reveals, through narrow alleys, its history rich in museums, churches studded with mosaics, tapestries, religious statues and, at the top of the hill, the superb Cathedral, full of wonderful testimonies. The small steep squares offer bars full of traditional sweets, restaurants with delicious and delicious foods, typical of Calabrian cuisine and shops full of souvenirs.

Excellent food in historic surroundings

L’Antico Borgo has four light and airy rooms with large bathrooms and is situated in the Centro storico of Gerace. As well as being a B&B, it is also a restaurant and pizzeria. The menu for the restaurant offers an original selection of dishes developed by the young chef, based on local ingredients but with a modern twist. You will be unlikely to eat anything of this originality or quality elsewhere in the area so worth paying a bit extra in local terms for such a treat. There is also a good range of local wines. We visited last year too and were just as impressed.

Cibo buono, servizio troppo lento

Siamo venuti in questo posto attirati anche dalle recensioni positive. Abbiamo preso un menu degustazione di pesce e uno di carne. Il cibo era quasi tutto buono, tranne, la pasta con le vongole che non abbiamo apprezzato particolarmente. La grandissima pecca però è stato il servizio, ci siamo seduti alle 21 e siamo usciti quasi all'1 di notte. Anche se il cibo era buono, ci hanno messo così tanto tempo a servirci che ci è passata la fame e non vedevamo l'ora di andarcene. Il prezzo è di fascia media-alta, in linea con i prodotti che ci hanno servito.

squisito calore

accoglienza calorosa ma discreta, locale curato, bel panorama, cibo ottimo, buona varietà nella scelta dei vini, pazienza e attenzione ai bambini (4) che erano con noi. Gerace è molto bella, pranzare in questo posto rende la visita ancora migliore...

Posto incantevole!

Il ristorante é nel centro storico di Gerace, un vero gioiellino completamente ristrutturato ma sempre con materiali coerenti con quelli del luogo. Noi abbiamo mangiato nel bellissimo giardino fresco e immerso nel borgo, molto suggestivo!
I piatti sono molto curati e gustosi, e il personale gentilissimo!!
Noi torneremo sicuramente!!
