Almost perfect!

Excellent welcome and advice. I put 5 but as everywhere, during our stay in Iceland, meals as breakfast, are at the limit of being cold!

Insufficient quality for the price

Suite booked with separate bedroom, junior suite got with all in 1 room. Disinterested staff at the reception, don't look up when you enter but continue chatting with each other. Spacious clean room but noisy on the street side off the main road. Moderate breakfast buffet, unlabelled, without dark bread or oatmeal. Defective coffee machine delivers cappuchino without foam and double expresso standard with milk, appliance for weeks defective dixit waiter.

Worst hotel experience ever

After 40 years of international travel, this was my worst hotel experience. Looks like they ran out of money during construction so they didn’t pave their driveway. In cold rainy climates hotels usually provide a covered protected area to unload luggage before parking the car. Guess that is too expensive for this hotel. Prepare to haul your luggage hundred of yards in 40 mile wind gusts on pouring rain and sleet if you stay here. The gravel driveway has deteriorated to a bunch of deep potholes filling with 4 - 8 inches of water. If you want staff that doesn’t make eye contact, sits on their ass and ignore you, if you like rubber eggs, tasteless fruit and bad coffee then this hotel is for you.

As an Icelandic hotel, we operate within Icelandic weather conditions, which can at times be challenging. You note in your review that there were 40 mph wind gusts during your stay. Such conditions are not unusual in Iceland and are one of the reasons why covered unloading structures are uncommon throughout the country.
Access to the hotel is via a gravel road leading directly to a designated dropoff area at the hotel entrance. While there was standing water on parts of the road due to the weather conditions, the road remained fully accessible and continued to be used by guests arriving and departing throughout the day.
We are disappointed by your comments regarding our staff, which do not reflect the experience of the vast majority of our guests. We remain committed to providing a welcoming and professional service.

Great bar experience

Super cute small hotel, very modern in the tiny town of Vik. Best part about our stay was the wonderful service we received from our bartender Marta. She was so friendly and lovely and full of wonderful suggestions for our trip. We even tried the fermented shark and shot! Such a great experience and memory we will keep forever.

Definately would return

We had a great stay at Hotel Kría. The room was clean, comfortable, and provided everything we needed for a relaxing stay. The breakfast was excellent with a great selection to start the day. We also appreciated the laundry service, which was available for a reasonable fee and was very convenient during our trip. The front desk staff were friendly, professional, and very helpful. There was also plenty of easy parking. The location is excellent, with restaurants, cafés, and shopping all within easy walking distance, making it a perfect base for exploring the area. We would definitely stay here again!
