The room was clean with a nice view of the coastal area with grazing sheep just outside. The food at the restaurant was top notch and locally sourced. The outside of the guesthouse was eclectic with a main check in and housing area with a connected dining area, and a long building with several rooms as well as some newer looking separate cabins. We stayed in the long building in a triple that had 3 twin beds. The room was clean and everything worked well. The people that worked there were extremely courteous, helpful and friendly. I would stay there again. I thought that it was a value considering the prices that rooms on this part of Iceland go for.

No frills accommodation with beautiful views
For being dated & in such a remote location I had a comfortable stay.
Positives:
-Beautiful surroundings area & views. Loved seeing/hearing the sheep & their babies next door.
-welcoming staff
-On-site restaurant/dining rm for dinner & continental breakfast. Although dinner seemed a bit pricey, really enjoyed the meal.
-Complimentary tea & coffee in the dining area when we checked in & was able to get some before breakfast.
-Although small, dated & fairly bare (I was in bungalow #3) room seemed clean. And had no problems besides loud neighbors & room feeling a bit stuffy
Negatives:
-Paper thin walls made it hard to sleep. Heard neighbors conversation
-No TV in room
-bathroom is cramped
-rooms could use a small fan to circulate air
Overall had a comfortable 1-night stay.
(Not sure I’d stay longer due to lack of amenities)
Just take into consideration it’s an older property & very basic.
Staff was very helpful & friendly & the surrounding area was beautiful

Do not book a room at this place!
I booked a Deluxe Cabin, but one hour before check-in I was told that due to a maintenance issue I could not stay in the cabin. Instead I was told to drive to another hotel 30 minutes away and that they had gotten me a room there. When I arrived there I was told that they were full and did not have a room for me at the hotel, but I was given a key marked with «Only for employees» and told to drive 5 more minutes to a house. This looked like someone’s private property and there were already to other people there when I arrived.
Of course maintenance issues can happen anywhere, but when I contacted hotels.com and asked for a refund I was told they couldn’t get approval from Guesthouse Gerdi for any kind of refund or compensation.
So, if you book a room here just know that instead of a private deluxe cabin by the sea, you might be told last minute to drive 35 minutes further and to share the house of a employee of another hotel with several other people instead. This house will also be in the middle of a field, far from any views of the sea, but Guesthouse Gerdi will still expect you to pay full price even though you did not get close to anything like what you booked.
Stay away, book from one of the many other guesthouses/hotels along the coast.

we were supposed to stay for two nights. The first night one of us went to take a shower and the shower leaked all over the bathroom floor. The drain was clogged and the water was also leaking under the seal around the shower. When we told the desk, they gave us some extra towels to clean it up. Did not come in and fix it. They were booked so they couldn't move us. We decided to only stay one night and they would not give us the second night money back even though we couldn't even shower in the shower .

Very close drive to Glacier Lagoon. Beds were comfortable and it was very quiet. Staff is very helpful. We were able to watch Norway and England match.
