Superb experience!

The location was superb as were the hosts, Leon and Gillian who were welcoming and friendly, while the scenery was unbelievable. Ahead of our stay, Leon kindly emailed a raft of information, including walks and places of interest. The continental breakfast was the best we have experienced, consisting of - fresh fruits, yogurt, croissants, toast, pan-chocolate, home made pastries, selection of cereals with a good range of gluten free options. Bedding and towels were immaculately clean and beds were very comfortable. Thanks Leon and Gillian. We look forward to returning. Best wishes and good health. Jimmy & Sandra

I would avoid it

I do not recommend this place where the cleanliness is very precarious, the kindness of the owner is embarrassing. Breakfast insufficient from every point of view. I feel compelled to review this property, baffled by the high ratings that misled us too.

if kindness is embarrassing, then i live in the wrong world.
The breakfast is substantial. (Due to insurance issues we are not able to serve an Irish breakfast, so its a continental.) Besides toast with jam, cheese and ham, we also have 4 cereals to choose from, plus freshly baked pastries, hot out the oven, plus a selection of cupcakes and 2 different cakes baked the evening before, PLUS yoghurt with some fruit. And of course a selection of fresh fruit juices.

Great base in a beautiful part of Donegal.

We were a large group and had the accommodation to ourselves, it was ideal for this. Rooms very comfortable, good breakfast and we could supplement it by cooking our own hot food if anyone wanted more.
Leon organised dinner to be brought in for us one evening and arranged a bus to take us to rusty mackerel the next night.
We used this as a base to do some great walking in the general area.

A lovely few days in Aras Glencolumcille

As part of Foyle U3A hillwalking group we spent a lovely few days in Aras Hostel in Glencolumcille.
Rooms were clean and comfortable and the kitchen was well stocked with cutlery, glasses, dishes etc. and had ample fridge space for all our needs.
We were well looked after by Leon, Gillian and the team and had a satisfying continental breakfast each morning with some nice home bakes.
It's an excellent and affordable location from which to explore the beauty of Glencolumcille and the surrounding area .

Perfect getaway location in rural Donegal

Nestling in rural Donegal, with views of Rathlin O'Birne island, this is the perfect location for a quiet and peaceful getaway.
Well placed for local attractions Slieve League and Silver Strand, and with great walking opportunites right on the doorstep - I never tire of the trail over the hill to the local village of Cashel, and the views as you crest the rise.
Owners Leon and Gillian are very friendly and welcoming, and have great knowledge and tips for exploring the local area.
There is a very homely and well-equipped kitchen/dining area, and the atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming.
Highly recommended!
