My Experience at 3 The Courtyard Castle Dargan.
I booked this property after being unable to secure accommodation at nearby hotels for a family wedding, and seriously regret it.
Rhe Issues:
- Arrived to rooms that were shockingly dirty: thick dust everywhere, wet towels, and personal belongings from previous guests left on the unmade bed.
- Despite messaging the owner early in the afternoon about the state of the room, I was completely ignored—no attempt was made to rectify the situation.
- Returned after the wedding to find the room untouched and uncleaned. Sent another message with photographic proof at 3:30am, spent over an hour trying to get help from Booking.com.
- When the owner finally contacted me (well after 4am), he blamed “confused cleaners” and offered a different room. The alternative was only marginally better: freezing cold, electric heater spewing burnt dust, and supposedly “fresh” towels that were dirty and stained.
Appalling Customer Service:
- I told the owner we would not stay the second night, and left early the next day. He then tried to blame us for the mess, insisting we failed to leave the key, despite never being told to do so and passing cleaners on our way out.
- There was no real apology or accountability—just excuses.
- Owner only refunded the cheapest night and ignored repeated messages from myself and Booking.com asking for a full refund for the unused/unusable nights.
Final Thoughts:
- Completely ruined what should have been a special weekend.
- Zero regard for cleanliness, hospitality, or basic customer respect.
- Booking.com tried to mediate and were ignored as well.
Avoid this place at all costs. Find anywhere else to stay if you value a clean room, honest hosts, or even the bare minimum of care.
