Awesome

The conduct of the team Sharda, led by Mr. Rahul was commendable. They were friendly, understanding, always ready to co-operate and help, sometimes out of the way. The ambiance was cool and calm with spacious rooms and corridor. Though the location is not at all out of reach, and as well all amenities are available nearby, approach from main road to Sharda needs attention. They are very particular about cleanliness. Their room service is good. As per convention and on demand they cater amenities such as dental kit, shaving kit, sleepers and likes. The use of special arts in form of picture frames in every room, corridor and waiting areas resonate their high moral towards cultural values. Their present chief Chef is blessed with Magic hands as whatsoever, customized dishes were ordered, he prepared and presented almost perfectly. I would definitely recommend Sharda as the place for hassle free venue for not only small gatherings but also for purposes of utmost importance such as marriage. One of the amazing part of their cuisines was "kachhe aam ka chatni" - so mouthwatering.

A lovely hotel of great potential, with a few annoying failings

The in-room information folder says that if you want service related information and to know about hotel policies, you’re supposed to read the fact sheet. Well this mentions that “outside food is not allowed”. Now critically, this isn’t mentioned on any booking platforms or any other marketing site I searched, so this is an important policy that you’re not aware of until you get here. The kitchen opens at 7am and closes at 10:30pm. If you want something to eat outside of these times, then you can’t have anything, because essentially the kitchen is closed, there is no room service and neither can you order take away food to be delivered to the hotel.
Breakfast is served between 7.30am and 10am and there’s a specific section on the menu for things that are only served in the morning, for example grilled chicken
sandwich, grilled veg sandwich, egg sandwich, chicken cutlet, french fries etc, which are all things a Westerner might opt for on a menu because they’re more familiar items to eat as a snack “at any time of day”, but also less likely to be spicy. But you can’t order any of these things after
10am. Why? The great majority of the menu is all Indian food, which is understandable, it is
India after all and I imagine Westerners form a small part of the customer demographic. In
this regard Indian guests are very well catered for in terms of menu choices. The starters are mainly all Indian, and a large section of the menu is oriental, i.e Chinese. Indian veg accompaniments. Indian veg and non-veg. Indian breads. Indian rices. “Combo meals” which are all Indo-Chinese. And that’s it. There is no consideration of anyone who might have any certain dietary requirements and yet at the same time the policy is basically saying “you eat here or you don’t eat at all!” Well that’s just wrong! I put in an online order for snacks like croissants, crisps, flavoured water, to be delivered because I’d walked around the shops in the local area and there aren’t any of these things available. I’m not going to be forced to buy
the stuff that’s on the hotel menu, because (a) it’s limited and (b) they are obviously higher prices.
On the first night I was very tired from travel and instead of venturing out to find somewhere to eat, I thought I would give the hotel restaurant a try, to see what the quality of the food and service was like. I ordered a chicken fried rice because (a) it seemed to be one of the few things from the Chinese section that I could eat, and (b) because I could stress that I didn’t want any spices or chilli included. It was in fact very nice and tasty. But as soon as I’d eaten it and finished my drink, the waiter brought the bill straight away and I hadn’t even asked for it. It had been my intention to stay and have a dessert and then a coffee but after the bill was brought straight away, I just couldn’t be bothered to order something else on a new bill. So by ‘jumping the gun’ like this with the bill, the hotel potentially missed out on this chance of extra revenue. As it was, 30 minutes after returning to my room, I took a look at the menu and called to order a desert and coffee. 10 minutes later the waiter appeared with the coffee, and then told me the desert would be arriving in around 15 minutes. This demonstrates a clear lack of understanding of the order of things when serving food and beverages. What could I say, “take the coffee away and bring it back when the desert is ready”? It was just a matter of having to accept the fact that the staff didn’t know any better.
With regard to the room itself. There was a specific discussion before I booked this hotel
because I wanted to be sure a fridge was available to keep medication in. On booking.com it states there is a fridge, but I wrote to them asking them to confirm this. The hotel swiftly confirmed that the rooms have got a fridge. When I got to the room I discovered that it used a keycard system, where you have to put the card in the electricity panel by the door entrance to switch all the electric on. So when you take the card out to leave the room, maybe go on a tour all day, all the electricity in the room goes off, “including” the fridge! This is unacceptable not only for people who could have cold drinks stored, (including milk for example if you want to make coffee or tea with fresh milk) it’s all going to be warm when you get back. For those who maybe want to keep a yoghurt or baby food in the fridge to eat at whatever time, this would spoil. And critically, for someone like me who has medication that needs to stay at fridge temperature below 5°C, it is totally unacceptable that the fridge is switched off all day when you’re out of the room. The fridge itself is of low capacity and quality with no temperature control. It is quite obvious to me that the fridge is NOT below 5°C, even when items are inside and the door has remained closed. I would guesstimate that the temperature ranges from 6-7°C. On the specific issue of the fridge switching off when leaving the room, I told them that I wanted a second keycard that could stay in the electric panel permanently whilst I am
out. I told them that of course everything else in the room would be switched off before
leaving, only the fridge remaining on, but the manager wasn’t too happy about this and
suggested that instead I should hand over my medication (injectable) to hotel staff to keep in the hotel fridges for me. Again this is extremely unacceptable! What if it goes missing? Gets broken? Gets contaminated? Freezes? A whole range of possibilities that could occur whilst in the possession of the hotel. I made it quite clear that if a second keycard wasn’t forthcoming, I would check out and find somewhere else to stay. Then the manager agreed and a second key was provided. Quite simply, the fridges in rooms should be isolated from the electricity cut-off.
Generally the rooms are clean and tidy at first glance. On closer inspection the cleanliness is poor in certain areas 4/10. The drinks tray is dirty, sticky and evidently no care is taken to control hygiene between room guest occupancies. The bathroom chromeware needs particular attention, particularly the bidet tap, toilet roll
holder and bin. The tv remote control and telephone are not routinely cleaned and are dirty to look at and touch.
The linen is good, with minor staining and tears 8/10. Towels OK 7/10 due to some staining. A/C is very good 10/10.
There is very limited drawer space (only one drawer located under the tv area in front of the bed). There is no bedside drawer available. The in-room multimedia offerings are good. A perfectly sized large flat screen smart tv hosting all media streaming platforms. Slippers, shaving and dental kits are also available in room, with additional available on request.
I was sent a billing invoice from the hotel during my stay which summarised the room
charges and taxes. This correlated perfectly with the projected charges as shown on
booking.com, except for an unexplained additional charge of 530 rupees which appeared as “extra charges including discount and tax”. There was a note stating “Rs. 500” against the request made via booking.com for the assurance of a fridge.
Having raised this matter with the front desk manager, the charge remained totally unclear to me. I explained that this appeared to be an arbitrary charge of 500 rupees for the assurance of the fridge (or the cost of continuous electricity consumption due to the fridge being permanently on, with a 6% tax also applied onto this), totalling the 530 rupees unexplained charges. Finally I was told that this was a “software error” and they immediately removed the 530 rupees from the invoice. Visitors to the hotel should definitely check their invoices for additional, unexplained charges or taxes that may be arbitrarily applied without your knowledge. Taking an extra 530 rupees from ‘every’ customer who stays due to this “software error” amounts to quite a profit margin over a 12 month period. Of course I am happy that the situation with the bill was satisfactorily resolved for me, but I’m not 100% confident that the hotel will actively work to resolve the software issue that is adding these arbitrary charges to customer bills.
I advise guests NOT to give their mobile/Whatsapp number to the hotel at checkin because you WILL be spammed up to 3 times EVERY DAY, by the hotels “automated” system. In spite of asking TWICE for the messages to be stopped, they continued. In the end I demanded they delete my number from their database entirely.
Having said all of the above, I am NOT in any way saying that any of the staff were unkind, unfriendly or unwilling in any way. In fact every member of staff I met with was 100% committed to their job and excellently represent the hotel in their attitude and effort. The staff can’t be faulted at all.
Overall rating on day of checkout is 7/10. The few criticisms and failings that are mentioned could easily addressed and remedied if wished.
On a final note, following on from my complaints about the menu and hotel policies regarding outside deliveries, I was informed on the second day that I was welcome to order anything I wanted from the breakfast menu at any time of day, and that I was also welcome to order in any food I wanted to be delivered.

Dear Ian,
Thank you for taking the time to share such a detailed review and for highlighting both the positives and the areas where we can improve. We truly appreciate the effort you put into providing constructive feedback.
We are delighted to know that you found our team courteous, dedicated, and helpful throughout your stay. Your kind words about our staff, the room amenities, air conditioning, and the quality of the food are sincerely appreciated and will be shared with the team.
At the same time, we regret the inconveniences you experienced regarding our food policy, restaurant service, room refrigerator, housekeeping standards, invoice confusion, and WhatsApp communications. Your observations have been noted and shared with the concerned departments for review and corrective action.
We are pleased that our team was able to provide a second key card to ensure your medication remained refrigerated, clarify and remove the incorrect charge from your invoice, and later accommodate your requests regarding the breakfast menu and outside food deliveries. We understand that these clarifications should have been communicated more proactively, and we will work towards improving this aspect of the guest experience.
Your comments regarding service sequencing in the restaurant, cleanliness of certain room touchpoints, and communication of hotel policies are valuable and will help us enhance our standards and staff training.
Thank you once again for your balanced feedback and for recognizing our team's commitment despite the shortcomings you encountered. We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you again and provide a much smoother and more enjoyable stay.
Sincerely,
Management Team

Should improve

Location not good and the paneer they give me in the dinner was 100% synthetic. Please do not do this to your customers. Rest was ok. Room was good but bathrooms could be better and they should provide toiletries themselves not on demand. I lost my key somewhere ,they did me a favour of not charging anything for that and I am thankful for that.. so overall was good some personal experience ona give day could be bad.
