Fabulous stay
We stayed for 3 nights and would highly recommend a visit here. The accommodation is outstanding; there’s everything you could wish for; the food quality (both Indian and continental dishes) are knock out.
Evening meals were eaten al fresco and the venue rotated at various points around the grounds. Pre-dinner drinks were provided along some wonderful canapés. The dining tables were beautifully lit with candles as was the walkway to each evening’s dining area. At the time of our visit we were not troubled by mosquitos or any other insects. The chef came out to meet the guests to ensure the food to our liking and was helpful in explaining how some of the dishes are prepared which we appreciated. On our last day we were offered various choices for breakfast and opted for indian food. The freshly prepared lassi, poha (flattened rice cooked with vegetables) paratha’s with homemade cauliflower pickle were hugely enjoyable along with two mugs of Darjeeling tea - a perfect start for the day. The other food choices were varied and ample i.e fresh fruits, homemade breads, and eggs cooked your way.
Our room was enormous, huge comfy bed, wonderful bathroom with roll top bath, double shower plus an outdoor shower and bath which we loved. A private decking area with two ample day beds looked out to the local countryside. The attention to detail in our room’s facilities was second to none. The turn down service, little treats left on the bed and cards were a lovely touch.
The staff were most gracious and we were made to feel most welcome. Nothing was too much trouble and the staff went out of their way to understand our needs and provided exemplary service.
We came to this area of India to see tigers; we did 4 safari drives and managed one sighting of a tiger along with an abundance of birdlife and other mammals. The accommodation is located in the buffer zone and is about a 30 drive to Bandhavgarh national park.

The perfect place from which to visit Bandhavgarh.
We recently returned from a 6 night stay at Samode. We were warmly greeted by Priyam & soon felt at home. Our suite was excellent with 3 large rooms, a cloakroom & 2 private outdoor areas. The air conditioning worked very well & kept the suite at a nice temperature with ceiling fans circulating the cooled air even though the outside temperature during our stay was between 40-45C.
The meals at Samode were plentiful, tasty & nicely presented. The freshly baked on the premises bread was a real treat at lunchtimes. The regional Indian food every evening was always delicious, spicey but never too much.
All the waiters were friendly, helpful & attentive without being intrusive.
We found mid-May to be an excellent time to visit, yes it was hot & for those who don't like heat it may be better to choose a different time of year, for us it was perfect & provided some spectacular wildlife viewing.
We had 10 drives into Bandhavgarh with our Samode naturalist, Yash. We visited the 3 zones of the reserve & enjoyed the contrasting scenery. Yash is a keen photographer & knew exactly where to position our vehicle to get the best possible views. Consequently we saw 17 Tigers, 3 Leopards, 1 wild Elephant & 83 Bird Species. We thoroughly enjoyed our drives with him, he delivered far more than we ever hoped for.
Samode is positioned well away from the other lodges servicing Bandhavgarh & has a calm, peaceful & relaxing atmosphere.
The meals at Samode were plentiful, tasty & nicely presented. The freshly baked on the premises bread was a real treat at lunchtimes. The regional Indian food every evening was always delicious, spicey but never too much.

The best in Bandhavgarh National Park.
Visited multiple times.
- Clean and spacious room.
- Amazing hospitality. Cannot be described in words.
- The dining experiences are fabulous. They even cater for individual food preferences.
- A must stay lodge if you are planning a trip to Bandhavgarh.

Safari perfection
If you want to be well looked after and treated like royalty, book a stay at Samode Safari Lodge. We stayed four nights and it was simply perfect. The team are amazing, nothing is too much trouble. Chef Suresh conjures up the most incredible, tasty, wonderful food, Priya and Anshu keep all the balls spinning whilst appearing totally calm, and Veer (our naturalist) was simply superb. He totally understood the various tigers and seemed to know, even before they did, where they were going to head next! We enjoyed a number of very personal encounters - just our jeep and the tiger and on one occasion, three tigers as we sat with mum and her two cubs as they played and then crossed the track beside us to go and drink at the waterhole. Truly magical!
The team in camp are brilliant, friendly, attentive and great fun.
We really enjoyed our stay and hope to return one day.

They just take care of you!
We had a lovely 4 days of so many Tigers with Yash (our awesome naturalist), of great hospitality with Priyam (awesome manager) and all the team who seamlessly looked after us as only India can do if you let it!
