Heavenly Sonamarg Kashmir

I had a very peaceful and beautiful time at Sonamarg and Mitra hostel Sonamarg kashmir. I travelled from Dharamshala to Kashmir with one of their staff.
Located by the side of river, I often washed my clothes and face in the morning in the river. The view is good and I loved staying at glass lounge as the view of Sindh river from the lounge is nice and very warm to stay there.

Bad experience

Located far away from the market in a dingy neighbourhood, this is a bacpacker's hostel. We have stayed in 5 star hotels, hostels, shacks (while trekking), but never had such a poor experience. The room was cramped, space for a backpack perhaps. There was a smell. The mattress on was soft while the pillow was hard. The toilet was decent, though toilet paper used by earlier guest/s were still in the bin. The funniest thing was that only one person took care of everything - reception, portering, toilet cleaning, cooking and serving. We were given our dinner (MAP), but during breakfast time the man disappeared. We contacted the owner and were told that breakfast will be available after 9 am. We waited till 9:45. No one came. Our calls weren't picked up. We finally left with the feeling that this was just to avoid providing us with the already paid for breakfast. Such attitude is simply reprehensible. I would srongly discourage people to book accommodation there. Even if you do, get your meals elsewhere. There are plenty of places in Sonamarg.
