Dreamy relaxation with exceptional food and hospitality.

We loved it! Boutique resort that was luxurious and welcoming. The staff were lovely and accommodating and the food, coffee and cocktails were delicious!
We stayed in a beach front cabin which was spacious, quiet and comfortable.
Our days were spent Snorkeling and paddleboarding a few meters from our cabin or relaxing in the hammocks or having massages in the spa, it was heaven.
We were four fussy sisters who were blown away at the gorgeousness of this place! Absolutely recommend!

Absolutely BEAUTIFUL Setting on a breathtaking island!

WOW! Absolutely stunning property! This was a really special experience getting to stay at this lovely hotel. Our room was very large, right next to the pool, with a bedroom, plus a large living room area with a bed for our son. You could see the beach from our living area and from the big covered porch. The bathroom was beautiful with a lovely indoor shower as well as an outdoor shower. We only had a short time to enjoy breakfast since our lagoon tour was picking us up at 8:00 am, but the breakfast was delicious with fresh fruit, bread, muffins, cereal, freshly made pancakes & waffles, and plenty of delicious items to order off the menu which were included in the complimentary breakfast. The hotel staff was incredibly kind, from Aunty Nane who picked us up from the airport and made our son feel extra special, to our complimentary fresh juice upon arrival, letting us store our bags after checkout while we were on the lagoon tour, and the tour of the resort upon arrival. The beach at this property is breathtaking. I went on a long walk down the beach which was one of the most peaceful experiences of my life. We took kayaks and SUP boards out and loved seeing all the fish through the crystal clear water. We had dinner there one night and the food was a little slow to come out, but the delicious food made up for it and the service was very friendly. The pool at this property was gorgeous! Our son never wanted to get out. My husband took a bike out and explored Aitutaki and he loved that experience. Aitukai is very special and we are so glad we stayed at Temanu Beach. We absolutely hope to return one day, but next time we will be staying a lot longer... this short trip was a tease.

Kia Orana Kimmy,
WOW! What a wonderful review! I'm thrilled you had such a memorable stay at Tamanu Beach with your family. It is great to hear you enjoyed the breakfast, our complimentary bikes, SUPs and kayaks, our Polynesian-inspired bungalows, the magnificent views over the lagoon, and our friendly staff. We can't wait to welcome you back for a longer visit!
Thank you so much for taking the time to write a review.

Overpriced room for poor service, average food and shady airport transfer

Let me start off by saying that for what we paid for Tamanu Beach Resort, I don’t think it was worth it! I had to book our stay in Aitutaki last minute so there wqs not much availability nor time to do thorough research. Let me recap what we did not like:
1. Transfer to airport: we paid out of pocket for the transfer as we wanted the opportunity to get a good seat on the flight back to Aitutaki. This means we would need to be amongst the first ones checking in at the airport as the seats are assigned first come first serve. (The hotel provides complimentary transfers but we wanted to 'beat the crowd'). The hotel helped us arrange the transfer and said it would $10 usd per person. The driver dropped us off at the airport and wanted $20 usd per person. I said ‘the hotel told us it would only be $10 usd pp’. She then said “you have lots of ‘luggage’!!’. For the record, we have 2 carry-on suitcases, a duffel bag and a backpack. We paid her $40 just so we can move on. This incidence really left a really bad taste in our mouths. We felt we were taken advantage of because we’re tourists!
2. The stretch of beach where the hotel is located on has a lot of green ‘mosses’. Not sure what it’s really called.
3. The bungalow though spacious is somewhat dated
4. Breakfast has very limited option and low quality.
5. Staff in the restaurant is unfriendly and many cases uninterested in providing service to us. (We’re Asians from California). Perhaps they provide better service to a certain demographic? On the buffer night, there were plenty of empty tables in the dining room when we arrived. They took us to the ‘worst’ table possible near the bar. We asked if we can have another table as we did make reservations. The hostess responded ‘those were reserved’. When we sat down, the table was wobbly so another girl tried to fix it with some paper but it was still shaking. Half an hour later when all the guests seemed to have already arrived, we asked to be moved as there were still 3 empty tables. They finally agreed. This really really shows poor customer service, especially considering how much we paid for our room!

We enjoyed our stay at the Tamanu resort. The resort is very pretty in a great area, we only wish the restaurant could offer more variety of food choices and better flavors. The room we stay in was also pretty nice, only a few things like sink was leaking and toilet didn’t flush properly from time to time.. overall we had a great time.

Outstanding

We absolutely loved our time at Tamanu. The atmosphere was incredibly relaxed and the resort really does live the ‘casual luxury’ vibe.
The resort itself is lovely with spacious open spaces and beautiful gardens with views to the beach that are magical. We liked that it had an authentic feel and was quiet. The rooms were perfect - large and incredibly comfortable. We really appreciated the excellent air con units!!
Every single staff member we met were helpful and friendly. The ladies in reception were incredibly knowledgeable and ready to help with everything! The housekeepers did a fantastic job - the rooms were always immaculate and the housekeeping got done early each day which we really appreciated. We ate at the restaurant many times and enjoyed all our meals and visited the spa twice - enjoying both our treatments. We loved that there were always loungers and hammocks free and the snorkelling gear, kayaks and SUP board were well utilised but there were always enough available for everyone.
We also really appreciated the way the management and owners seemed genuinely interested in how the guests were enjoying their stay - Errin the GM and Michael both made genuine efforts to touch base with the guests, check in with them and offered fabulous advice.
Thank you for creating and sharing this very special piece of paradise.
