Calm, relaxing stay
First, every single member of staff we had the pleasure of interacting with was lovely, from the friendly and helpful reception staff to the waiters, servers at the beach bar, cleaners and buggy drivers. Shout out to Iraklis at the pool restaurant who was always so friendly and helpful and made a point of saying hello even if he wasn’t our server!
The site itself is great:
- fantastic pool (no issues getting beds throughout the day, although obviously ‘the best’ go earlier). Access into the pool was via shallow steps which was really helpful for my mum who had accessibility difficulties.
-The beach also had lots of beds of a couple of different types. Not all are adjustable (some more like stiff bean bag beds) and shade is tricky, but it’s a lovely place to spend the day. Call buttons mean you don’t have to walk up to the bar and there’s a great selection of drinks available (espresso freddos and smoothies became firm favourites!)
-We ate in two restaurants on site: simplicity (by the pool) and the fish restaurant. The latter is housed on a little ‘boat’ overlooking the sea which is a beautiful location, but can get very windy! It is also a bit overpriced, but was a lovely experience none the less. Be warned- no small portions at either restaurant! Starters felt like they could be main meals and our eyes were often bigger than our stomachs!
- The breakfast selection is also one of the best I’ve had at a hotel- lots to choose from, hot and cold, and a great variety of fruit on offer. Only thing- I’d have liked big tomatoes!
- it is a large site on a hill, and we were a bit concerned with my mums accessibility issues, but the hotel have several buggies that transport you around the site and are readily available to be called upon.
We were hugely fortunate to be upgraded to a suite with a private pool which blew us away. We certainly weren’t expecting it but thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Other reviews have suggested renovations are needed and whilst this may be the case in some areas, we didn’t see it. The communal areas and our room seemed clean and smart.
The overall feeling of the hotel was calm elegance and friendly service. We loved that there wasn’t forced entertainment on site (although there were scheduled evening events at the beach bar, we just chose not to go) and we also thoroughly enjoyed exploring the local town where there are plenty of bars, restaurants and shops to enjoy.
I’d highly recommend this hotel and I plan to return and use it as a base to explore more of the island.

Truly outstanding resort
I can't recommend this place enough. Truly stunning.
If you want to get out and about you can book a fixed rate taxi €8 to the delightful fishing village of Pythagorio, where you'll find a charming harbour and delightful gift shops, bars and restaurants. We will definitely be back!

A Truly Exceptional Stay in Samos
The sunbeds, both on the beach and by the pool, were extremely comfortable. Breakfasts were absolutely delicious, with excellent quality and a great variety every morning. The staff were exceptionally kind, helpful, and highly professional at all times — whether in the restaurants, at the beach, by the pool, or throughout the resort. You can truly feel the luxury approach to guests everywhere, and that deserves a special extra star.
Special thanks to Leah — her recommendations for exploring the island were incredibly helpful. The map with all the marked places became absolutely essential for our trip, and without her guidance we would never have discovered some of the best spots on Samos.
A special thank you also to Angeliki, who always welcomed us with a beautiful smile during breakfast and later at the beach bar served delicious coffees and drinks, always accompanied by a small sweet treat that made every moment even more enjoyable.
Many thanks as well to Iraklis for his exceptionally elegant and professional approach to guests. His style of hospitality truly stands out and creates a very special experience.
Special thanks also to Sophie, who gave us such a warm welcome upon arrival at the hotel. We also shared a memorable experience together while helping to rescue one of the cats living around the resort. Interestingly, almost half of the hotel guests became involved in helping, which beautifully showed the kindness and care people in Greece have not only for each other, but also for stray animals. It was a small but truly heartwarming moment of our stay.
We would also like to thank the charming young bartender at the beach bar who helped organize a birthday surprise on the beach for my friend — a truly memorable moment.
A warm thank you to the lady taking care of our bungalow room for her kindness, warm greetings every day, and even teaching us a few Greek words with great patience and positivity.
We also greatly appreciated the staff responsible for the internal buggy transportation around the resort — always available, always smiling, and always willing to help.
It is worth mentioning that the hotel is located on a hillside, so there are many stairs and slopes to walk. But after enjoying huge Greek meals and excellent wine in the tavernas around Pythagorio during our stay, we actually treated all those steps as a fun daily workout rather than a disadvantage. And for guests who prefer easier transportation, the buggy service around the resort is always a very convenient option.
Overall, Proteas Blu Resort is an outstanding hotel that offers luxury, professionalism, warmth, and unforgettable hospitality. We would gladly return.
