Amazing Hotel
It was very beutiful, the water park is perfect for the kids and i recommend this hotel for families

Pick up your wallets and change phone cable because it disappears without being able to charge theft because you do not leave to France without going through the consulate!

Super friendly staff. Spacious and plenty of room at pool,lobby and restaurant. Beautiful views, private beach, beautiful gardens.

NOT a 5* hotel !!!
Positioning / Surroundings:
Hotel Rethymno Mare (in the same place/ campus with Rethymno Mare Royal) is located in a village, Skaleta, 11 km from Rethymno, a cute little town with a Venetian fortress, long sandy beach with umbrellas and beach bars. Without the car in Skaleta, you have nothing to do! Listed at 5* but has no more than 4*. The first night we stayed in a family room although we had the deluxe room with sea view. The family room had a maximum of 3*. Old furniture, bathroom sink was chipped, toilet bowl had problems with filling ... Cleaning OK. From the second evening we had the room we booked - deluxe sea view. Here are 4*, no more. New modern furniture. Bathroom OK, without problems. The bathroom products are of poor quality. The wonderful view from the balcony. The hotel is on a steep hill, arranged in terraces, so get ready to go up and down many steps. The level difference from the beach to the last room is about 30-35 m (about 10 floors)!
Beach: sand brought, narrow. The entrance to the sea has quite large stones after which it is sand. For sensitive people I recommend special shoes. The water depends on the weather, the sea currents. When clear, when cloudy. There may be algae! There are chairs and umbrellas for free from the hotel. Also, the beach towels. The towels have a guarantee of 10 euros that will be returned upon delivery/ end of stay. The beach is reached by a passage that goes under the main road. It's at approx. 150 m from the hotel.
Restaurants / food / drinks:
As a variety, food is somewhere up to 3*+. There were some good things, but nothing extraordinary. In contrast, when we visited a hotel near 4* - Crete Star Hotel it had food of at least 4* -4*+. There were 2-3 times more dishes. A quick example: at our hotel we had 2-3 kinds of bread and two types of bread roll. At Creta Star Hotel they had at least 8-10 kinds of bread. The staff of the main restaurant is, for the most part, friendly, but there are exceptions when you can get rid meaningless. At the Cretan restaurant where local food is served we didn't take place even though we were on the waiting list from the second day ... It only works 3 days a week ... The drinks are low quality local. Beer - the clear water. The water is in the cups or dispensers. The rose wine was decent. For the rest (white / red) we didn't try it. Juices - horrible.
Facilities:
There are two pools for adults (although the depth is small from what I saw) and two for children. They have an amphitheater where children's parties are held. Also a water park but very small. It only has 3 slides, that's it.
Important note:
Although it boasts of 5* all inclusive you will NOT have water in the room nor any other liquid !!! Just what you get on arrival - 1 bottle.
Conclusion: Too expensive for what it offers! It is NOT a 5* hotel!!!

Wir hatten eine Suite mit Privatpool.
Das Hotel liegt abseits von der Innenstadt, die man jedoch mit dem Bus im halben stündigen Abstand gut erreichen kann.
Eine einzige Taverne ist fußläufig in der Nähe, wenn man auswärts essen möchte.
Das Essen wird im Buffet angeboten.
Das Personal ist immer nett und höflich, aber es gibt viel Personal was kein englisch, deutsch oder selbst griechisch sprechen kann. Die Verständigung war somit schwierig.
Das Putzpersonal ist unfähig gewesen frische Handtücher für eine 4-köpfige Familie auszulegen und das Zimmer (wir sind alle blond) hatte viel zuviele schwarze Haare überall auf dem Boden liegen.
Der Wasserpark ist super und für groß und klein zu empfehlen.
Die Animation fand auf französisch statt, was für uns, die eine griechische Insel besuchen, nicht schön war. Ein Veranstalter stellt die Animation, was wir über Expedia gebuchte Kunden nicht wussten. Wenn man der französischen Sprache mächtig ist, hätten die Kinder und wir bestimmt Spaß gehabt, so jedoch nicht, weil die Animateure uns, die nur deutsch, englisch und griechisch verstehen, ignoriert haben.
Den privaten Pool haben wir vollunfänglich genutzt.
Im großen und Ganzen war das Hotel ok, wird von uns jedoch nicht nochmal gebucht und ist auch keine 5* wert.
