Pleasant surprise

A magical place, a minimalist reality but well-realized as a whole and with very large spaces, well-kept gardens, significant use of concrete and glass that nevertheless harmonizes well with the surrounding nature, very clean and tastefully furnished. Kefalonia is unique; you don't find small villages on the coast near the beaches, and you don't easily find quality dining as on other islands. We are at the level of McDonald's-like tavernas where mediocrity is the rule. In this hotel it almost seems like they don't want to be noticed; they have a great chef who manages the breakfasts, but he could do more and, in our opinion, much better. Dishes are churned out continuously that do not do justice to the quality of the products nor to the talent of the artist behind the stove. We have unexpressed potential on an island that probably lives on the glories of the past and limits a skilled chef to preparing fake junk food like hamburger sandwiches just to satisfy a globalized clientele that cannot see beyond its own nose. A real shame. For the rest, it is an excellent discovery; Mrs. Maria is a hostess, well protected by her manager Nicos and by all the staff who assist and strive to make the guest feel at ease. It could dare more and become, in addition to an excellent hotel, a highly rated restaurant. Every request of ours was, however, fulfilled. Off-menu, dinners based on wild-caught sea bass or stuffed squid were prepared for us upon reservation. The mastiha sour is excellent and very effective for digestion, as are the desserts by the Chef, another Nicos.

Well-equipped hotel in an ideal beach location with very spacious rooms and motivated staff.

We enjoyed a flawless stay at the Leivatho Hotel. The rooms were very large, clean, and equipped with all necessities.
The nearby beach within walking distance (Avithos Beach), the friendliness of the staff, and a rich breakfast buffet complete the experience.
To catch the early morning ferry, we had to leave the hotel by 6:30 AM. We received an unsolicited breakfast package for the road - a great extra. There is still room for improvement in the efficiency and professionalism of the service staff, but all employees are generally motivated and accommodating. Thus, we can wholeheartedly recommend the Leivatho Hotel and would book there again immediately.

Dangerous Floor

We stayed at the Leviathan Hotel from 2 to 9 July. The premises are comfortable and the staff helpful.
Unfortunately the floor of our room was covered with a very slippery material, self-designed and inappropriate, which we were not warned about, resulting in falling and hit my head seriously.

Nice Hotel, Dreadful Room

First the good news. The hotel is beautifully situated with nice views over the sea. The food is of a high standard and not expensive. The waiting staff in the bar and the restaurant are all friendly and helpful. The swimming pool is excellent. BUT...
The room we were given (M9) is without doubt the worst hotel room I have ever stayed in. The design takes the form of a five-sided box, with large windows on four of those sides; the windows cannot be opened. Given that this was June in Greece, the greenhouse effect meant that the room become swelteringly hot. Even with the air conditioning on full blast and all the curtains closed all day and all night, it was impossible to get the temperature down to a cool level.
Worst of all, the bathroom (by that I mean the toilet and the shower) opened directly on to the bedroom. No door. No glass partition. Not even a curtain. This is not only very unhygienic but if offers the user of the loo no privacy whatsoever.
It seems the people (architects?) who design these rooms never actually stay in them themselves.
When we arrived we asked to be moved to a different room, even it was smaller. We were told that this was not possible and that we would have to put up with the room we had been given for the rest of our stay.
If you like spending your holiday in an over-hot open-plan toilet, that's fine. But I will not be returning to the Leivatho Hotel any time soon.

Lovely stay in a beautiful hotel

This is a really lovely hitel. It’s family owned and run - such a fantastic experience. We had a sea view room which had a good kitchen as well as an excellent shower. Lovely bed linen and towels.
What makes it stand out is the attention detail in everything that is done - a lovely welcome and nothing is too much trouble. I highly recommend it.
