It's a shame to have good raw material and not manage it properly!!!
The accommodation is in an excellent location with a wonderful view and parking spaces, which serves unimaginably.
Some rooms are renovated and some unfortunately not.
I have no opinion on the renovated ones because we stayed in one of the old ones, which in my opinion had an unacceptably high price. In fact, they had the same price as the refurbished ones!!!!
More specifically, our room was dirty. On the roll top that was in the kitchenette you "wrote" your name from the dust and on the walls there were dead mosquitoes that had dried and no one bothered to remove them. Let alone whiten the walls for the new season.
The cleaning of the place was not done every day, so we had to look for the person in charge to bring something we needed (eg toilet paper)
The towels were clean but so rough that you could hardly put them on your face.
Mattresses unacceptable due to age - worst sleep I have ever had and in combination with the humidity in the room.
What a 70s bathroom, big as a space but with a very small shower that didn't even have a rack to leave your sponge or a hanger to hang your towel. Not to mention the watery hand cream soap they had in the bathroom sink which was minimal in quantity but also so watery there was no point in using it.
With all the above data, I think that the price of 70 euros is unacceptably high! This room should have been charged for 30 or 40 euros at most!

for Kasos a good choice
Having written about it a year ago, not much has changed. New is free WiFi, although I wasn't told about it. In general with check-in not much information is given (for example that for hot water one has to switch on a handle).
A big fridge is there with a free bottle of water on arrival. In the kitchen the hotplates are so rusty that it takes ages to get something warm on them.
In the bathroom there is liquid soap, but no shampoo or a hair-dryer. Next to the double-bed there was a reading-lamp only on one side. Good is the terrace with great vistas and the possibility to hang up wet clothes. The terraces are facing east, so there is morning sun.
The TV has only a handful of Greek channels. The nights and early mornings are quiet with just the sound of pigeons, cocks and some barking dogs.

spacious studios on the outskirts
This place is on the outskirts of Fry, about a 20 minutes walk, if one uses the road. There is also a shortcut over fields, broken walls into a maze of alleys in Fry, not too easy to find especially at night after dinner in a local tavern. Take along a flash-light.
There are about 9 rooms, of which the lower ones on ground-level are enormous apartments, while the smaller, but still quite big studios on top have a nice balcony with a view over the fields behind the harbour of Fry.
When staying there it is good to ask for the mobile number of Giorgos Vretos, who is hardly ever around the accomodation, but immediately helps when there is a problem. He also takes care of the transportation - for free - from and to the airport or harbour.
The studios and apartments come - as per definition - with a kitchenette. We used to make breakfast here, although it is not so easy to find grocery in the supermarkets of Kasos in small packages (all is big family size to last for weeks). Good to bring some along from wherever one comes (for example salt and pepper).
One also has to pack some basic toiletries, since there is no soap, showergel, shampoo. Don't forget to switch on the hot water before taking a shower. There is no hair-dryer.
The rooms don't get serviced, so make your own bed. During the 3 nights we stayed at the place the garbage-bins were never emptied nor towels or bed-sheet exchanged. I am sure they will do that, if one stays longer or if one especially asks for it.
One's own vehicle can be an advantage, since the islands doesn't offer itself for walking or hiking. Whatever paths are left are all overgrown by now. On the other hand there are many surfaced roads between the four small villages, the old harbour of Emburios (best place for swimming) and two far away former monasteries.
The island of Kasos doesn't get many visitors and that is its main charm. Most people are friendly, welcoming and communicative. The choice of accomodation is very limited and the Galanou View must definitely be one of the best choices here.

Beatiful view, spacious room and great hospitality
I visited Kassos in July and chose Galanou view for my stay because of the reviews and the price. It was an excellent choice! We enjoyed a spacious and clean room, fully equipped kitchenette, a balcony with excellent view of Fry, the main vilage and harbour of Kassos. Mention should be made of the hopsitality offered by the owner who heartedly welcomed us and was available and helpful throughout our visit. Thanks a lot!
