Charming hotel, perfect for a weekend in Archanes
Lovely hotel with charming atmosphere, comfortable beds. Vasilis and Eleftheria were so cute and welcoming ❤️ Easy to park right at the entrance to the hotel. The only minus was poor water pressure in the shower.

This is a unique traditional country-style villa in a charming village in Crete.
We stayed at this unique traditional country-style villa in Archanes-Asterousia for two nights, and it was a wonderful choice. The hotel features a charming inner courtyard that adds to its authentic atmosphere. We arrived from Heraklion International Airport much earlier than the check-in time, but the manager, a young woman named Ieva (apologies if the spelling is incorrect), was incredibly kind and welcomed us without hesitation. She even helped us with our heavy luggage. She first showed us the room we had originally booked, and then offered us the option to upgrade to a larger apartment. We chose the upgraded apartment, which had two spacious separate rooms. Each room was decorated in a traditional country style, with charming small windows that perfectly reflected the authentic character we were looking for. Our apartment was equipped with all the necessary amenities. The hotel is located on a hillside in a small town surrounded by olive groves and vineyards. The town itself is full of pretty cobbled streets, colourful houses with well-tended gardens, and quaint cafés and tavernas. On our first evening, we were lucky enough to have dinner at a small taverna where five local musicians performed traditional live music and singing, creating a truly unforgettable atmosphere. In the morning, we enjoyed a delicious authentic Cretan breakfast with an egg omelet, Greek yogurt, orange juice, and a variety of sweet pastries. At this lovely authentic villa we felt like at home.

A wonderful stay - such warm and genuine hosts, Eva, Eleutheria were wonderful - great welcome, good advice, delicious breakfast.

EXCEPTIVE VACATIONS
For our vacation in Heraklion (8 nights) I chose this small hostel, which I had read about years ago in some magazine and I was very lucky. I liked the idea of having a town near Heraklion and with easy access to the attractions that I was interested in. The hotel has the following very positive:
1) It is on the edge of the village, so it has easy access without having to use the central (strict or very narrow) roads.
2) It has comfort in parking in free spaces next to the hostel.
3) The rooms-apartments are small two-storey buildings around a very picturesque courtyard with a pool with sun loungers and breakfast tables, full of flowers.
4) The apartments are very large and comfortable. Our, for example, (which was not the largest), had a large living room with fully equipped kitchen, table, couch etc, bedroom with double bed and with inner staircase second bedroom with 2 beds, that is very comfortable for a family of four. The apartment had 3 TVs (one in each room), only the toilet did not!
5) The decoration is impressive, refers to the old image that this mansion had.
6) The price was very satisfactory for a couple and given the size of the space.
7) Breakfast was optional. Very good option for those who do not want to add too much weight on the holidays. But I tried it 2 times and it was excellent. Local delicious dishes that come in portions and that will definitely add weight. It is worth the test, if not every day.
8) The owner and staff are very polite and excellent professionals. The owner is very well acquainted with the area, for those interested in the tourist and non-parts of the area.
9) The center of the town is easily accessible on foot (drop) and the return (rise) is good gymnastics. Otherwise there are also taxis in the square.
10) The pool is what you need for relaxation after an intense day and before the evening exit.
The town of Upper Archans is very nice to stay, because:
1) It is close to Heraklion (17 km)
2) It has many attractions (archaeological museum, folklore museum, summer Minoan palace) and is very picturesque for walking in narrow labyrinth narrowings. A great help the map of the area and the town that has been curated by the owner.
3) It has many picturesque taverns and shopping malls in the square, but also in other neighborhoods, confectioneries, bars, grocery stores, pharmacies, and even summer cinema.
4) It is ideal for visiting Knossos, which is more easily and quickly accessible from her than from Heraklion.
5) It has many attractions around. (Yuchta Peak, Vathipetro, Houdeti with the Musical Instruments Museum and the Ross Daly School, Myrtia with the Kazantzakis Museum etc.)
6) It is a good starting point, either for visiting Heraklion and the other attractions in the North (e.g. Aquarium in Guves, Theotokopoulou Museum in the picturesque Fodele etc.) or for the northern beaches for bathing, or the more southern attractions (e.g. Fistos, Zaros, Pyrgos, Matala etc.) and the corresponding beaches.
