Amazing week in Agistri

What an amazing place, tucked away but only a 2 mins walk from the port.
Spotless hotel and very comfortable rooms.
Maria and her family were warm and welcoming, we felt.like part of the family.
Amazing value for money, we booked with Expedia but will book direct next time.
If you want a chilled out relaxing holiday this is the place for you

Very bad

The structure will be nice in summer, but when I was there in winter it was clearly being renovated waiting for the summer season and in all respects was closed for maintenance. So much so that the manager did not ask me for any identity document to check in. I assume some rooms were available on Booking so the property would still want to earn something during the winter. But the entrance to the hotel was occupied by the restaurant's furniture and appliances, including a torn door. If you add to this that the pool, whose water was full of algae and dirt, had not been covered, it becomes incontrovertible that crossing the area to carry out check-in and check-out operations, as well as simply entering and leaving the hotel, could incur safety and health hazards. The view of the room assigned to me (other than the studio in the garden that I had booked) looked right over the pool, so the view from the terrace was undignified. The room was cold due to the malfunction of the heating system, without heating in the bathroom, with non-insulating fixtures and dirty windows. From the floor sprouted channels for the renovation of the electrical system, clearly still in progress, while the bathroom was populated by insects. Overall, the entire facility showed signs of neglect beyond mere filth and required the intervention of public health authorities. Among other things, cat feces could be seen on the cushions of the porch chairs and garbage along the entrance staircase, which at night was not lit and therefore dangerous to go down or up. The service was also rather poor. The manager accompanied me to the room wearing muddy shoes, with a dog, despite himself, just as dirty. There was never anyone in the reception, despite being assured at the time of booking that it would be manned 24 hours a day. For every need, I had to shout to get noticed and wait for the handyman to arrive, with whom the manager argued even at night preventing me from sleeping (overlapping their screams with the annoying noise of the old heating system, which I still had to keep on to fight the cold coming from the fixtures and the bathroom). In addition, some mornings from the room bordering mine there was an annoying noise of electric drill and displacement of heavy loads, further evidence that the structure was undergoing maintenance. I did not point out the above to the manager as she was clearly careless of the situation and as it would have been impossible for me to find another accommodation, since in the island almost all the facilities were closed and I arrived in Agistri after two stressful days in Athens. In fact, I had been stranded in the capital by Hurricane Harry, which cancelled all ferry connections forcing me to book two extra nights in the capital. In this regard I would like to point out that the manager did not even have the good taste to offer to refund me the first two nights, since I had not stayed at the property due to force majeure.
I have not received any concrete assistance from Booking, other than general emails in which my complaints were not considered in detail. Finally I was offered a coupon amounting to about 15% of the cost of the stay.

We booked a superior twin room with a spa bath, for a bit of luxury; I am 65, my friend 69. We arrived early & our room was ready but we gad a double bed, not twin as specified. The manager then produced a trundle bed & considered it resolved. Itvwas very uncomfortable & I barely slept for the 2 night stay.
Fittings & fixtures are if poor quality & appear to be badly maintained (eg the light switch fell off as I was leaving the room) there was no slip mat in the bath, no full length mirror, most things mismatched.
On the kadt night (yesterday) I used the soa bath & it was only when I stood up to get out I noticed the bathroom was completely flooded, going into the main room too; my flip flops were floating on 2 inches of water together with other items I had left on the bathroom floor. We got reception & after at least half an hour it was under control, mopped etc but the fact remains I could have had a serious accident.
Overall, witj the tiredness of the room, non functioning / dangerous facilities & uncomfortable camp bed, this can by no means be considered an average, let alone superior room.
The manager was very dismissive when I checked out, offered no apology & seemed convinced that these issues had been resolved; maybe they were in her opinion but not in mine as a paying guest.
If I had not paid in advance I would have gone elsewhere, as there were plenty of other rooms available for the same or lower price.
I will be looking for at least 50% refund, if not all.

The hotel is fine. I was looking for best value for money so can't complain really. The room was clean, but felt a little run down. There was bits of plumbing sticking out of the floor in the bathroom and in the bedroom? Just a bit odd. And some of the lights did not work and the safe had no keys/ batteries. The woman who checked me in was very friendly. I ordered one coffee from the cafe and it was terrible and the man was rather rude who made it for me. If you are on a budget, it does the trick and I had a nice time on the island. The beds were very comfortable!
