My experience at Royal Lee's Hotel at Tutu, Eastern Region, Ghana
Today is exactly 3 weeks to which I wish to recount an unfortunate and unforgettable experience ( 30/3/2026 - 6/4/2026) at Royal Lee's Hotel.
Location: It's too far especially when you have any emergency that you have to rush to a well equipped hospital, it's likely you might not survive it or you would be able to get to a good hospital in Accra though but it might be too late to salvage the situation; a painful experience I had to endure.
Also take into account if you have to rely on public transport, it's not easy getting access to good transportation, the drivers drive dangerously and recklessly and even if you drive, there are lots of reckless drivers who ply that route. Their actions are very irresponsible and nobody holds them accountable. The risk involved taking that route is much higher than staying in Accra and it's environs, you gonna be much safer in Accra. In fact, reckless and irresponsible behavior of a commercial driver almost killed a very important person who is close to me. Her car is beyond repairs but we are grateful to God that she's still alive.
Value: comparatively, it is not worth the price at all for the kind of rooms and services that was rendered to me for eight straight days of my stay.
Rooms : (a) there were no trash bags for the trash cans in both rooms and its bathrooms that we occupied. I had to use my own trash bags for sometime and when I requested staff to get me trash bags for the trash cans, I was given only one trash bag. This is a sign of what to expect , which is, things won't be great.
(c) made a request for a kettle and I was given a kettle which was dirty and rust inside and staff made no attempt to clean it before it was presented to me.
(d) water shortage when I was taking a shower. It happened twice and I had to use bottled water which I bought for drinking to rinse off soap from my body. With the first incident, the staff at the reception was kind enough to fetch me a bucket of water afterwards but I had already used bottled water to wash the soap off from my body before they later fixed the problem.
Again, the second incident was even more painful because it was late, around midnight. I was asked to pack my belongings so I would be relocated to another room but I didn't have the opportunity to do that immediately because I wasn't alone and I was faced with some challenges.
(e) the batteries inside the door for the key was not covered not even with a tape, everything was exposed.
(f) the right side where the telephone is had non working socket and the wires were exposed, the red wire and other colored wires were visible. This was a huge red flag, the hotel doesn't have an electrician to take care of it before allocation. This means that technically speaking, the room wasn't ready, yet the bed was made and obviously, with their standards, everything seems to be in order.
(g) TV pictures and sound were terrible, with not much channels to select from. When you select a channel, the feedback is either not in service/no subscription.
(h) not enough sockets in the room so I was made to unplug the fridge before I was able to recharge my mobile phone battery, then after, I would unplug my phone charger and plug the fridge again.
(i) there was leakage from the bathroom sink and had to put the bathroom trash can underneath it and put my own trash bag in it so the place doesn't get wet when brushing my teeth or washing my hands.
Noise level: behind my room was where you could hear the staff chatting or engaging in petty quarrels especially in the mornings and sometimes at night time.
Service: had about breakfast only a few times during my stay. I would say that staff tried their best but needs improvement. It's like bread was being constantly served and this was white bread, no whole wheat bread or brown bread was served as it's locally called in Ghana.
Consider also using boiled egg and not using fried eggs as it was always the case during my stay.
Needs variety like pancakes, waffles, cereals, taking into account children too.
Need to consider adding some fruits to breakfast, even one small size of banana or slices of orange or one orange, an apple, etc.
Need to serve milk that can easily be opened by the customer. Realized the restaurant has only one scissors so when it is borrowed for a while, they can't get a spare scissors to help resident open the whole milk served
Saw a small roach at my table walking on my stuff, stopped eating, killed it and couldn't continue eating the food.
It means they need to spray the kitchen and their store room (s) including the rooms prior to check-ins. I bought my own mosquito or insects spray.
Need to put at least one or two crackers, sachets of coffee/milo/milk/tea bag/sugar/ a bottle of water in the room when it's been booked/ reservation has been made prior to check-ins. Assuming a resident is stranded and walks-into a room at night time and the kitchen is closed, all surrounding restaurants are closed, no local food vendor around the corner to buy from and the resident is hungry, so what will happen to this customer? It should be part of the services provided at the hotel. A resident should be able to get some snacks from the reception too when it becomes necessary. Residents should be entitled to a snack every day, period!
The rooms have serving trays with a mug and a saucer but no teaspoon was included, consider adding disposable set of cutlery which have been sealed for hygienic reasons.
No paper napkins, nothing except one toilet paper. Consider putting a small tissue box in the room when reservations are confirmed or prior to check-ins.
Positive: (a) friendly staff members , they didn't have attitude. They were always polite which was very helpful given my unfortunate experience due to poor services over there.
(b) clean bathrooms and rooms with cotton towels and sheets which seemingly weren't very old.
(c) safety is assured.

Worst Customer Service!!!!
My worst experience was, I wanted to order for food from tier restaurant and because my room service phone wasn’t working, I used my personal phone to call their front desk after getting their phone number from their website, the front desk person told me he can’t get back to me on the price so I’ll have to walk from my room to the restaurant which is in a different block.

Good Meal. Good Service
The only problem was that the WiFi signal was low when we were in the restaurant. But quickly picked when we stepped out of the restaurant.
Their meals were great.
