Beautiful gîte

We had a lovely stay here overnight on our way to the Dordogne. The family suite Les Chevaliers is amazing and a perfect retreat after long drive from Calais. Thank you for making us feel so welcome and your jams at breakfast were the best I’ve tasted! A must stay, would love to stay longer next time!!

Nice B&B in the woods

Not wanting to be in the hustle and bustle of Limoges, we looked for a B&B in the countryside. And even though Limoges is very near, La Grande Forêt makes you forget all about the city. The 5 guest rooms are located in a beautifully restored country house with a large private parking lot just across the road. The rooms are spacious, comfortable and nicely decorated. They come with a very modern and well equipped bathroom. Our room, Under The Stars (Sous les étoiles), had a comfortable queen bed that is positioned under the sky light so you can watch the stars from your bed. Unfortunately, the sky light is locked so you can't let in the fresh forest air during the night. Maybe this is because the room has a good working airconditioning system. However, they put the unit up in the lower part of the duplex, so it takes some time for the cool air to reach the bedroom area. The French breakfast is good and provides you with enough energy to visit Limoges or the nearby Oradou-sur-Glane.

Wonderful nights sleep.

This b&b is off the beaten track in the forest (clue is in the name!). We stayed for one night as we headed south through France. Our room was rather more than a room. It had it's own entrance with ground floor bedroom and a half balcony containing a great bathroom. Everything was of very high quality, and the breakfast was superb. The only drawback I can think off is the absence of nearby places to eat.

A little piece of paradise

This lovely little gite in the Limousin countryside about 18 km from Limoges is a secret haven. Lovingly restored by Marie-Veronique and her husband, the property is just outside a tiny village in the rolling countryside and is a re-purposed farmhouse and outbuildings made into a beautiful home and several guest rooms. Each room is decorated individually with exposed timbers, plaster walls and impeccable taste in furniture and linens. After a long drive to the area, Mme. Bury greeted us with a delicious bottle of chilled white wine, local sausage and pate, served on the deck of the pool in the spacious garden. Our night was spent in absolute peace under a starlit sky (there are skylights in all the rooms) in one of the most comfortable beds I have ever slept in. The bathroom fixtures are of the highest quality (now THAT is a rain-shower head!), everything was spotless and the bed and towel linens were four-star hotel quality. Mme. Bury does everything with tremendous grace and style: we were asked for our order of coffee or tea the night before and when we emerged for breakfast, the table was set with typical Limoges china, fresh artisanal breads and homemade jams and jellies. The dining room is as perfectly decorated and designed as the rest of this beautiful spot. In the morning after we checked out (we had hoped to stay a second night but they were fully booked) we went for a short hike through the nearby forest and bucolic countryside, with meadows in full flower and horses grazing peacefully. One could happily stay several days here exploring the Limousin. I would be happy to return any time! Top recommendation. Excellent value for money as well at 85 Euros for both of us including breakfast.

Un endroit parfait

Un cadre sublime et raffiné. Des propriétaires d'une grande gentillesse à vos soins...la chambre est très agréable et belle. Le petit déjeuner est copieux et délicieux. C'est vraiment une adresse à retenir pour passer des moments agréables et reposant. Nous reviendrons....et merci beaucoup pour ce séjour à M. Et Mme Bury
