Wonderful food

A very bad day
But today it was terrible. When we went in, there were people smoking on the terrace just outside the entrance and the smoke was drifting in. Then the waitress (there was no maitre d') showed us to our places without any welcoming smile. The bread rolls were over baked, hard and inedible. My dish, steak in camembert sauce, was brought with the handle of the steak knife (it hadn't been put on the table when I ordered) sitting in the sauce. No apology! But the final straw was when my son-in-law's dish was not brought with those for the rest of us. We waited five minutes for it to arrive before starting ours but, even then, we had finished before his dish arrived, a good fifteen minutes later!
So we decided to cut short our visit and cancelled the desserts (which we had to order in advance). The waitress didn't argue but I can't describe her manner than any more than not unpleasant.
To be totally fair, the food when it arrived was excellent, but the service was so poor (I've *never* known it so bad) that it really ruined a nice treat offered to me by my daughter and son-in-law.
What a pity! Was the patron on holiday and these were substitute staff? We have a holiday house within four miles of Pont d'Ouilly which makes it a very convenient venue but now I feel as though I need to find another restaurant to which I can invite friends.

An Enjoyable Dining Experience
Although some distance from the sea it specialises in excellent seafood. Our favourite meal is oysters followed by lobster flambe with whiskey!
