Very Quiet

Stayed two nights in small upstairs room with evening meal. Cheapest we could find and very clean. Good breakfast and the evening meals were good as well. If you want a proper meal then it is cheaper to eat in.

Will live long in the memory

Chris was a particularly attentive host. On the day we arrived he had experienced a series of setbacks. We were welcomed with news of storm damage to the roof, a severed internet connection, needing to get a new oven and wild boar crashing through the garden. So it would be churlish to focus on small failings which did not materially affect our stay. After all the bed was comfortable and the breakfast was very good. On another day I'm sure we would have had a very good stay.

Thank you for your review. It must have seemed like an episode of Faulty Towers. As the English say, "it never rains it just pours" and it did that day in more ways than one. On Friday last I had a speeding ticket drop through my door for going 6km over the limit rushing back with the new oven, My fault of course. The internet connection was repaired again quickly although the vandals were never caught. That said they have not cut it again, so our town and hospital is safe for the time being. The wild boar we fixed, the family (mum dad and 4 babies) was shot by the local hunt, not at our request. So sorry for all the inconvenience caused, not our normal standard but at least you got a good night's sleep and a hearty breakfast to see you on your way.

Very fine rooms close to the river Aude with a good and helpful host.

Second stay at Les Eaux Tranquilles. Excellent room, quiet location, nice garden where we can sit by the banks of the river Aude or on the covered terrace. Fresh bread for the breakfast. Well functioning wi-fi. Chris is a very nice host, really helpful with all that you ask about, and also interesting to talk to about whatever goes on in France, England and the rest of the world.

Just what we needed.

In a period of just three weeks we had already driven 5500 klms and needed a place to recharge our own batteries..And what a find this B&B is...Beautiful location,serene setting and views to die for.. The host Chris is chocablock full of information and suggestions for places to visit and enjoy and for myself the chance to hold conversations in english a real joy after 3 weeks of broken english.Great breakfast and also the chance to enjoy his culinary skills of an evening if given enough notice..Cant reccomend this place enough if its peace and quiet you crave....or just a little break from your travel in general.

Second stay at wonderful Les Eaux Tranquilles, in Beautiful languedoc, Southern France

Our second trip to the beautiful Languedoc area of France and Les Eaux Tranquilles. In June 2015, we were welcomed to the home of Chris, our host for 2 weeks holiday. He looked after us way beyond the requirements of traditional B&B and in the most picturesque setting within the majesty of the French Pyrenees. We recently returned from our second holiday (June 2016) at Les Eaux Tranquilles and it was so good we have booked again to return September (2016). Trip Advisor list this as a Hotel. It is not and Chris states quite clearly, that he runs this as a 4 bedroom B&B. That said, it really is a most sublime B&B, perhaps the best you are likely to stay in anywhere! Furthermore, Chris will cook you an wonderful evening meal, if you give him a day or so notice! We would highly recommend Les Eaux Tranquilles, but book well in advance as others have caught on!
We have stayed in rooms Lavender (nice and cool in Summer) and Sauge ( wonderful views of Pyrenees and river around the garden) and both are very well appointed, tastefully decorated and have huge ensuite bathrooms. Genuinely we could not fault either of them and that was for 14 and 10 days respectively. Chris has 4 rooms to let, 3 are of considerable size and as we found at least two are more than spacious enough to use as a base for two weeks holiday. I am led to believe that the 4th room is smaller, but still suitable for a few nights stay for a couple. Check his availability to get the best rooms. Regardless of your sleeping quarters you will receive a courteous welcome and excellent breakfast from a very informed host. It really is the perfect base to explore the whole historic area and if it is cloudy in the mountains, do as we did and head to the Med coast, its only an hour! Fantastic and best of both worlds!
