Bar good, room comfortable, mosquito heaven

The hotel is set back from the main road, indeed the parking entrance is from the back street. There are rooms all round the courtyard, though most of our party were accommodated in the lake-facing block.
The room was comfortable, with one exception - mosquito heaven! Mosquitos are to be expected so close to the lake, but with a good inch of space between the balcony door and the floor they could have a grand time. They also flew up from the shower drain, though we covered it with the plastic jug in the bathroom and that seemed to contain them.
We ate in the hotel one lunch and one dinner, and for breakfast. Breakfast was okay, the basic pasta with tomato sauce was good (my stomach was delicate from another place so I was careful). The bar was a great place to socialise in the evening.
If you visit during a festival, expect to be woken at 5a.m. from the amplified chanting/singing from the nearby church of St George! TIA, and there was much coffee that morning.

Cool bar

I cannot comment on the hotel as I stayed in another place. But the bar is pretty cool and feels very old world, like some waterhole in Havana. Retro environment, slow service, nice to get out of the city for a while.

Accept that this is basic, no frills option and you will be fine

Marked this as average for a low budget hotel In fairness not expensive and room rate negotiable . On the other hand make sure they haven't just excluded the rate for breakfast as I then found breakfast was not included and it ended up costing more. This exclusion had not been made clear so effectively no saving. Having experienced breakfast I was then pretty pleased it was not included and I could go elsewhere! The scrambled eggs were like rubber. On entering hotel seems pretty impressive. Large bar area. Lots of wood. Receptionist spoke good English. Rooms are around a court yard so plenty of car Parking though the Ethiopian tendency to run vehicles for ages was disturbing in the room. Overall slept well once the generator was switched off which ran until 10.30 p.m . I strongly advise you to check out the room and test everything before agreeing to take one. The rooms are crudely put together , especially the bathroom, and not one room I looked at had everything working or there. E.g. If there were mosquito nets the TV was gone ( least important in my book) or water stayed cold or the door did not lock. There was only one plug i could find so charging equipment difficult. Wifi worked well sometimes in bar but not in rooms. As rooms overlook external walkways and courtyards opening windows was not secure option and it was hot. Represents good option for budget travellers. Clean enough.Walking distance centre and Lake Tana shore though not in the centre.

The hotel services that we gate realy reinovated and satisfid the room is tidy and new with speedy wifi, delcise break faste ,free shutte on time on the airport as well as with exelent english on recepton conversation the hotel is realy reinovated.
