Pair with a Century Room Jazz Show

Centrally located in old town Tucson next to the train depot this historic hotel is attached to a Jazz Bar concert hall called the Century room. It’s the most convenient place to stay if you’re taking in a Jazz Show.
The 2story hotel doesn’t have an elevator so be prepared to lug your luggage. The windows and the walls are thin so it’s noisy and it’s also haunted with an Ouija Board in the lobby, but it’s more memorable than your run of the mill chain hotel. And it offers $10 secure overnight parking which is a real deal. Breakfast in The Cup is top notch too. We enjoyed our stay.

Terrible experience, unprofessional management

I recently stayed at the Hotel Congress and was thoroughly unimpressed. The security guards hung around interrogating patrons, and the staff offered no assistance. Any complaints resulted in more hostile treatment. The room was noisy, and the lack of hospitality and professionalism from the management team was unacceptable. I would not recommend staying here.

Yes historic, but too loud every night we were there. (Tues to Thurs)

Location was good. Rooms were 'historic'. Bathrooms too small. Noise level was way too high. Is there not a noise ordinance in downtown after a certain hour??

Historical but Nothing More

In their own words, the Congress Hotel tells you that this is a noisy place due to its location where all the downtown activities mingle. To read people complaining about the noise – well – it was to be expected if you did your research – you were forewarned. I was forewarned so I’m not going to complain about it. I came here on the recommendation of a friend mostly to see the history of this old hotel.
My friend and I came only to eat at the Tiger’s Tap Room, however, not to stay overnight (we are locals) so I can't comment on the rooms. Since Tiger's Tap Room is indeed a very noisy space, we asked for outside tables. It was a cold (for Tucson) evening. The staff immediately lit two heaters on either side of our table so we could stay warm and comfortable (we were the only people outside).
Our waiter must have been (maybe still is) an actor – he spoke in various accents and created various types of characters along the evening. He was certainly entertaining to say the least.
Lets start from the beginning. Parking is not easy. We found underground parking just kitty corner from the hotel (for a price of course). Being outdoors wasn’t that much quieter – you are in the center of Tucson after all but better than indoors. Service was quick and impeccable, the menu small but adequate.
It was very late so we were here mainly for appetizers and wine. I had the Calamari (from Uruguay) and though they were well prepared (it’s easy to overcook them), the Sriracha sauce they were served with was WAY TOO SALTY. My friend had the fish tacos which he said he orders every single time he comes here.
I had never been here – this was my first time and although this place had old charm feel and great service, I’m not sure I would be back considering the difficulty of parking and the so-so food. It was an experience to discover a historical part of Tucson but nothing more.

Don't Stay Here If You Plan On Sleeping

This hotel is not worth the $250 per night charge. While the hotel does warn about noisy rooms, they don't tell you that you won't get any sleep until after 3 AM when the bands/partying ends below. Add to that the noise coming from the street, and you won't get any rest. In addition, the room was extremely hot and stuffy. We turned off the heat and still couldn't get comfortable. In order to get ice, you need to go down to the bar or front desk where they will fill up an ice bucket for you with no lid. There was no mini-fridge in the room. We checked out 9 PM on our second night there after seeing all we wanted to see in Tucson and just drove home. The only nice thing about the hotel is the location and the staff was also nice & friendly. We have stayed in a lot of historic hotels while doing amateur ghost hunting, and this was the only terrible historic hotel we have ever stayed in. Ironically, you can't hear the rooms next to you, so the hotel can block noise between rooms but doesn't care about the noise coming from the music venues.
