Wonderful stay at the River Street Inn May 2026!

My husband and I recently stayed at the River Street Inn to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary and thoroughly enjoyed it! It was great from the moment we opened our door to the beautiful room and stunning view of the River. We enjoyed many hours on the veranda watching the goings-on below and the boats going by. The cargo ships are amazing! So huge and silent gliding by.
Thank you, Ivy, for the wonderful champagne welcome, it was so nice! All the staff were helpful and kind. I imagine the area can be noisy at night during prime visiting season, but when we were there in early May it was quiet. And also the door to the balcony, when closed, blocks out noise well.
The hotel itself is gorgeous and I love its uniqueness/quirkiness. We were provided with vouchers and ate at the Broken Keel each day on the patio for breakfast and had drinks there in the evening. We meant to get to Huey’s but it didn’t work with our schedule. There is coffee ready in the lobby in early morning, and the manager’s reception in the afternoon. Some folks we chatted with mentioned the noise in their rooms facing the road in front of the hotel, but we didn’t experience this on the opposite side facing the river at this time of year.
The hotel is conveniently located & easily walkable to most things. I have back issues, so we frequently used Uber and easily got around between that and walking.
We highly recommend this unique hotel and would definitely stay there again. We felt it was a great value and well worth the cost to stay in the River-facing room with veranda. My husband loved watching the river happenings while I was getting ready each day. I was glad for this, as it was fun for him to have this option. We never once turned on the TV. It was a very enjoyable experience at the River Street Inn and enhanced our trip to Savannah!

Super nice location, everything walkable and a super niece old colonial atmosphere, but my god that at this day and age you still have such a terrible wifi and have such terrible coffee in the room is not enhancing the experience for travellers.

We were out on the street level. We had a door that was accessible to the outside. I asked the front desk to move us and they did….3 doors down. Still on the street level after I voiced the safety concerns. People walking the street could come right up to your door. It didn’t feel safe for my wife. Also, the hotel is old but well maintained however, if you aren’t on the top floor, expect to hear people walking around above you.

Loved the atmosphere of the hotel. Located in the middle of Riverstreet for easy walking to everything offered on the waterfront. Would definitely stay here again! Staff was extremely friendly and helpful and the extras they had during the day in the lobby along with the daily manager reception was a pleasant surprise.

We decided to stay here to experience the old hotel feel. The room was spacious and we had 3 windows facing the River. Water was provided in room and we received 2 food credits for the restaurants on site. It did rain non stop one evening so having the restaurants there was a plus. Parking was high and so we decided to park in parking garage 1 block away. The staff was polite. We will definitely come back and stay!
