Beautiful hotel and excellent stay

I booked this hotel based on previous reviews and wondered could this hotel really have a 5 star rating? The answer is a definite Yes! From the first communication to the last, the staff was courteous and professional. We never saw or met any staff except at The Dame but never felt forgotten. We walked into our room with quiet music playing which was a comforting touch. The wealth of information on their website and in room was plentiful and answered all our questions. We stayed in 1929 on the first floor and the room was appointed with a full fridge/freezer (great for refreezing ice packs), microwave, coffee machine, coffee, tea (herbal variety would be nice to have), a nice selection of beer and cocktail liquor. The signature scent of the candle, soaps and lotions was divine. Breakfast is provided and you choose your menu the evening before and is promptly delivered during your requested time frame. Pastries and fruit were delicious. The bed and pillows were comfortable with the addition of robes too. The bathroom was pleasant and sufficient. The only thing I would say is to have somewhere to put your towel as you exit the shower, but I understand not wanting to put hooks in the beautiful window frames or tile. The decorative style is superb! The thoughtfulness of the many plugs and USB connections were greatly appreciated.
We purchased the parking pass and felt safe leaving our car in the garage and walking to and from. If you are not able to walk the distance (1 1/2 blocks) you can park on street or side lot but those are not monitored by hotel. There is a drop off spot in front of hotel. Don’t let the Google pics from 2025 of this hotel persuade you not to stay here. The area is well maintained and lovely.
The Dame bar underneath the hotel was excellent. The bar tender was attentive and our drinks were great and reasonably priced. The Wasabi deviled eggs and Bourbon Croissant bread pudding were both excellent.
So yes! Book this hotel!

Fantastic Hotel for downtown Memphis!

Booked a two night stay for my husband’s 50th birthday. Hotel was super cool, clean and just a delight! Loved the location and atmosphere. Will book again when we return to Memphis!

Hidden jewel of Memphis

I have stayed at Hotel Pontotoc in Memphis twice this year and will never stay anywhere else. The accommodations are exceptional, booking seamless and hospitality at the highest level. I felt the rates were very reasonable for A++ accommodations. The restoration of this beautiful hotel in the middle of the historic district spared no expense. The speakeasy with beautiful patio is super cozy and my favorite amenity. I love this hotel and their staff. Highly recommended!

Not worth it

Terrible experience. Room appeared clean but found food under the couch, stains in the carpet, and hair on mattress. In addition, our TV was not working upon arrival and John (service manager) jumped on the counter with his dirty shoes on to fix it.
We left as soon as our smalls kids were up and ready. Hotel refused to refund full amount.
We wanted to like this hotel but unfortunately it missed the mark.

Cleanliness is one of our highest priorities, so I was disappointed to read your comments regarding the condition of the room. The issues you described are not representative of our expectations, and we have shared your feedback with our housekeeping team to ensure it is thoroughly reviewed.
I would also like to clarify one point regarding the television. Our manager stepped onto the built-in window bench beneath the television in order to access the equipment behind it. At no point did he stand on a countertop or any food preparation surface. Even so, I understand how the situation may have appeared, and I apologize that your first impression of the room was interrupted by a maintenance issue.
Regarding your early departure and refund request, your reservation was booked through a third-party travel site using a discounted, non-refundable rate. The terms of that reservation, including the refund policy, are established by the booking platform and agreed to at the time of purchase. Unfortunately, we do not have the ability to override or modify those policies. Even so, we did our best to work with you within the limitations of the reservation.
We genuinely regret that we fell short of your expectations. Feedback like yours is taken seriously, and we appreciate you bringing these concerns to our attention. We wish you and your family all the best in your future travels.

Picked this hotel because of the pictures of the rooms. However the pics don’t do it justice. Truly and remarkable hotel downtown Memphis.
Interesting that they have a texting system so you never see any staff except when they deliver the in-room continental breakfast. They are very attentive and answered every question or request we made through their text system.
10/10 recommend!
