This eco-friendly lodge is 15.6 mi (25.1 km) from Mount Hood Meadows and 0.1 mi (0.1 km) from Mount Hood National Forest. Rooms : Make yourself at home in one of the 70 individually decorated guestrooms. Your pillowtop bed comes with down comforters. Complimentary wireless Internet access is available to keep you connected. Conveniences include safes and complimentary bottled water, as well as phones with free local calls. Dining : Enjoy regional cuisine at Cascade Dining Room, one of the lodge s many dining establishments, which include 6 restaurants and a coffee shop/café. Need to unwind? Take a break with a tasty beverage at one of the 2 bars/lounges. Buffet breakfasts are available daily from 7:30 AM to 10 AM for a fee. Cozy hotel with EXCELLENT food

I treated my wife to the “Overlook Hotel” since her favorite movie is The Shining. The Timberline Lodge doesn’t solely ride on its film history. The food, especially at the Cascading Room, was stellar! The lodge is a bit remote from other places and you would think the staff would get lazy with the food. Nope! FANTASTIC dishes with stunning views from their grand windows. The menu items are pricy, but well worth the experience! In other words, there’s no need to drive out to get quality food if price isn’t a concern. I wanted to treat my wife with the whole lodging experience and none of it was a disappointment. The lodge dates back to the Great Depression. Therefore, don’t expect modern amenities with grand-scale rooms. Keep that in mind. Our last night at the hotel was a bit windy and we even thought the room was haunted, but we dig that kind of stuff. You will need to watch out for loud neighboring noises, creaky floorboards, etc. All of that adds to the charm of “glamping”.

Could be better

Beautiful, historic lodge and amazing views! The rooms themselves are just ok - the beds were sagging, and the room was quite loud (we could hear the people above us walking around causing loud squeaks, and everyone passing in the hall). No coffee maker or mini-fridge, which is no biggie if the room price is reasonable, but it’s not. I’m glad we went at half-price mid-week in June; I wouldn’t stay at full price. Food was ok, not amazing, and very expensive. Hot tub and pool are great. You’re paying for the history, so if you love that, go for it. If you want the amenities that typically come with a $400/night hotel room, you will be disappointed.

Mount Hood Adventures

We reserved the Timberline Lodge after reading it’s a National Historic Landmark on Mount Hood built by hand during the Great Depression. It is AMAZING! Features hand-carved wood, wrought iron, and stone masonry crafted by locals. The entire story has been preserved for you to see; learn; and experience. Prior to our stay the “Grasshopper Fire” broke in Oregon. The Hotel was close enough for us to get daily updates yet far enough to recommend we come. That alone was a life experience well handled by the hotel personnel. We had a very cozy King room facing Mount Hood. A beautiful view seeing it capped with snow in August! We had a wonderful dinner; eloquent presentation; seamless service into a multi-sensory journey. The craft cocktails were on point as well. This is a very special memory in Oregon! Be sure you reserve this one and if you ski even better!

Why Stop to Stay.

If you are passing over Mt Hood, try to get a reservation to stay overnight. It will be an experience you will not forget due to the fabulous scenery and the luxurious comfort. Even if you are not a skier or boarder, just watching the hordes of folks streaming up to the lifts is an amazing activity. And a dinner in the dining room is well worth the time, especially seated at a window looking down the Cascade Range.

July Timberline

Wonderful place to visit. A wonderland of historical lore and hand-made wood construction. We were there in summer and the hiking/walking was grand.
