Good enough for a good nights sleep but slightly lacking

The virtual check-in was new to me, but it worked. We were able to get a room downstairs because there is no elevator here. Theroom is a slightly remodeled version of the old hotel. It was sufficient. The water was very hot, which was perfect because there’s a very storm happening right now. However, the toilet handle is broken and I had to manually go into the tank and flush the toilet. The door hinges are rusty andjust doesn’t look great. The bed was very comfortable!. That’s why we came and stopped because we needed to sleep so that has a fivestar! The breakfast room is a tiny converted guestroom, with not much selection unless you like cereals and breads. The only protein was fried powdered , they also had a few pancakes and waffles sitting in the other side of the heater. We would’ve preferred a little bit of meat when weread full breakfast. So we did not eat there. Probably wouldn’t stay here again because there are so many hotel and motel and Inn choices on this highway 101. But we did feel safe!

The sheets had stains and smelled of bleach. When the cleaning person came the next day to replace the sheets an earbud in an airpod was lost. We checked our app and saw the missing earbud of the airpod was last seen down the street; we were traveling during the time it was pinged. While we submitted photos, we did not receive a response with hotels.com or the hotel. We are pursuing a claim for our lost property.

The check in with a screen was strange much prefer having a person in the lobby. Room was a nice size and bathroom really clean. Area was close to town bit quite a few homeless people.

We left a couple items behind, and the staff gave us the run around for days and the items were never "found" in the room where we left them. I even reached out to management via the contact information provided, and they also did not respond.

Let me start by saying that what stood out was how clean the entire property is. The office, parking lot, fitness center, pool area, breakfast area and room were amazing! Staff was all nice, older property but well updated. My main disappointment was that the massage beds in the fitness room are just a tease. I had booked this place because I thought I would be able to get back massages for my sore back. I went in after check in and scanned the qr code which gives you a three minute massage. My daughter's glitched after 17 seconds I got the 3 minutes. That was it, no way to get a massage for the next 3 days. No way to pay extra.
