Charming blast from the past!

The best hotel! Great atmosphere and location. The beds were amazing with very cold air conditioners! Just loved it. All the cute nostalgic touches in the hotel included a fabulous roof top bar!! Perfect hotel!

I want to highlight how incredible Daniel, the front desk employee, was during my stay. Frankly, he was the only reason I decided to continue my stay, and I'm very grateful for what he was able to do despite larger issues that were outside of his control. He kept an upbeat, welcoming attitude throughout and was ultimately the one who rearranged guests into different rooms, for instance, when ~60 rooms hadn't been turned over by the 3 pm check-in time and people were waiting at least 1-2 hours just to get a room. That delay is on management and their relationship with the cleaning service, not on Daniel.
I was part of a wedding block and heard from numerous guests about their experiences. It was clear that you either got placed in an upgraded room and were fine with the condition, or got placed in a non-upgraded room and were severely disappointed. If you're going to place guests in low-quality rooms, you should offer them at a discounted price and be upfront about it during booking. I've stayed in cheaper motels that were the same quality as the initial room I was placed in.
While Daniel was working with the manager to get me into a better room, my impression was that the manager hid in the back office and continued instructing staff to push the unrenovated rooms. I was on the phone with other hotels, ready to cancel my stay, until I was finally moved to an upgraded room. I found the whole practice by management pretty skeevy.
The first-floor bathrooms were consistently a bit dirty and often out of toilet paper.
I've stayed in many hotels across the country and the world, everything from hostels to 5-star accommodations. The physical quality of this hotel is well below average for the price point, and some of the rooms are motel-quality and should be priced accordingly.

Would NEVER recommend Hotel Lincoln

Front door hard to close -- had to kick it, which explained the shoe prints on it
Poorly designed - wasted sq ft
Decor yawn - white walls, beat up trim. Next to no art
Towels skimpy
No grab bars
Slippery shower floors
Tiny bathrooms. Next to no counterspace, hanging for towels.
No bathroom fans. Vents only.
No cold water in one. Scalding shower. Reported but fix didn’t last. Other bath cold lukewarm
Insufficient storage. Tiny closet. One drawer 18 x 15. Two desk drawers 2” deep
Traffic noise
Couch rock hard, poor ergonomics
Pull out couch 5’ x 5’. Sleep diagonally. No linens.
Mattress and pillows TOO soft. No support.
AC units loud. Gap between one and wall full of dust and crud. Rooms stuffy or cold
Outlet missing - exposed wires
Halls - walls, carpet grubby
Elevators tiny, small, slow
No mgr till 2:00. Front desk doesn’t answer when called. Doesn’t always respond to reported problems.
Rickedy tables
No lamps. Only overhead lights. Wall lights by bed can’t be controlled separately and are ganged to overhead on one circuit.
Water leak
Debris on rug under couch
No cups except for 2 coffee

Great location extremely outdated and falling apart

The location of the hotel is great but the rooms need updating and the elevators are small and very slow. The staff are very friendly but the phone in our room was broken, the air conditioners were very loud and old and the temp was inconsistent and the bathroom faucet leaked constantly. Definitely a great property in need of updates.

Outdated, overpriced, but at a location that some may favor.

The location, across from Lincoln Park, will attract some people. But I found little else to recommend. Room was terribly outdated, with room AC pointing directly at the head of the nbed (making sleep difficult), shades were broken, and no cold water from the sink. Neighborhood had little to no restaurants within easy walk, and the rice for the room was stratospheric. Elliptical machine in the fitness center (the only equipment ther that I used) was terrible--frayed plastic on handles (that hurt hands), and shook uncontrollably at high speeds.
