Worst Hotel Ever
When my husband went to check us in, he was hit with a $30 deposit that we were not told about ahead of time. I know hotels often have a credit card on file for incidentals, but they usually don't charge it. Well, this place does! After a bit of confused discussion, he finally settled on paying the deposit and was given the room key. Unfortunately, this is where the trouble continues.
Once he got to the room, the door would not work. Perhaps it was just the room key, you think? Nope! He asked the front desk, and they couldn't even open the door. So, he got transferred to a new room. When he opened that door (it worked!), it reeked of dirt and black mold. Back to the front desk he went. This time, the front desk person came with him to see more rooms. The next room had VERY visible black mold growing in the bathroom on the ceiling and walls as did the fourth room he saw. By the time he found the 5th room, he was exhausted and okayed this room because it was the "best room" they had.
Our, supposed, best room had broken vents in the AC unit, holes in the curtain, dirt/grime/mold on the wall by the front door, no phone receiver (the wall mount was still there but the actual phone was missing), a taped up TV remote, damage to the refrigerator, damage to the toilet tank and grime on the lid, mold in the bathroom shower, and stains/dirt on the table. We didn't even roll the sheets down to see what might be lying underneath!
When I went to the front desk to ask if they might have tiny shampoo bottles, the desk clerk looked at me like I had asked her for a million dollars and replied rather snidely that they only have soap. I then asked for towels, and she made it seem like I was putting her out by my request. As I was waiting for her to retrieve the towels, I noticed a sign on the wall (See photo) that said what the Studio 6 properties have as included amenities. When the front desk person came back with the towels, I asked her if I could have a set of the cookware/dishware that the sign indicated would be in the room. I was told that I would have to put down a ONE HUNDRED DOLLAR ($100) deposit for these items. $100?!?!?!? for dishes and a pot/pan?!??! Ludicrous! I read the fine print on the wall sign, and there was nothing on it about a deposit of any kind for these items. I asked why they charged this if it was supposed to be an included amenity, and they said it was their hotel's policy. I then asked to see the documentation of this policy, and they said it was not a written policy! Lie or just shady business? Either way, I never got any dishware or cookware. Another point of contention was the onsite laundry facility that was listed on the sign. I asked about this and was told that it wasn't available to guests even though it was on the sign. It seems that these folks do not understand the phrase "Our Amenities Include".
I continued to ask for the dishware because, honestly, we needed some plates and forks to eat our dinner. This became an issue, apparently, and I was told that if I wasn't happy I could just leave and they would refund my $30 deposit. I said I was not leaving. That is when they said that I could address my concerns with security! Rather than just letting me have the amenities I was asking for, they called security on me! Just as a note, I was not raising my voice, being aggressive, or trying to intimidate anyone. I simply wanted the things that THEIR sign said I should have.
After a time, the security guard showed up and promptly told me that he knew "what kind of person" I was and that I needed to stop what I was doing. If I didn't simply go back to my room without any actual resolution to my issues, he was going to ask us to leave the property. I tried to explain my side of the situation, but he refused to listen and ended up expelling us from the property without cause. He gave us no option, would not listen to our reasoning, and didn't care about customer service. We ended up leaving and finding an Airbnb...a MUCH nicer Airbnb for about the same price as the room and deposit.
