Great location and amenities

Easy walking distance from some excellent restaurants and the free downtown circulator shuttle. Less than 15 minutes to the wharf and boutique shopping area. Relatively new hotel, very clean. Staff was very helpful. Our room was spacious and had everything one could want for a long stay, including a three tier French door fridge and a dishwasher. We stayed on Bon Voy points.

Can’t Recommend This Property

We didn’t have a good stay and I don’t know if I would return to this location. It started off at check-in. We arrived a little after 2 PM and were told the room would be available at 3 PM— left our number for the desk to contact us, but ended up just waiting in the lobby. The lobby is spacious with nice areas for indoor and outdoor seating. About 3:15, I finally sent to speak to the desk clerk because we hadn’t heard anything. The clerk was clearly not having a good day; probably should have had two people covering the desk during this busy time. When I made the reservation online, I didn’t realize the Fairfield and Residence Inns were both together in this same building, but that explained the higher than usual amount of desk traffic.
We had reserved a studio king room and on first glance it appeared fine— clean and up to date. Then we discovered the horrible design decisions. First, the entire hotel is outfitted with rectangular toilets. Imagine sitting on a hard square— forces a spider than natural stance and does not have any redeeming aesthetic value. Next, we unfolded the sofa bed and found that when open it extended far enough across the room to touch the end of the king bed, making it impossible for someone on the far side of the bed to walk to the bathroom. (Marriott— this room design is ridiculous. I’d love to see the entire executive team spend a week in one of these with the sofa bed open.)
As if this wasn’t bad enough, we were awoken in the middle of the night with a loud motor sound. Keep in mind, the second floor room didn’t have good soundproofing to begin with. We could hear discussions from the parking lot, the elevator buzzer anytime someone held the door to long, etc. But this motor noise was really loud. I tied to burry my head in my pillow only to find the noise was accompanied by vibrations which made it even worse when my ear made contact with any part of the bed / bedding. Come to find out we were assigned a room right above the laundry and machine room.
The next morning I went to explain our situation to the front desk and had a very apologetic guy work to change our room. I said we needed two bed surfaces and could be flexible in the room type. He said all king suites had the problem of the sofa bed extending across the entire room. He was able to upgrade us to a one bedroom suite (much better and exceptional customer service!)
The new room was working out great until I found there were no bath towels. I mentioned it to the desk (in person) and the same clerk said he’d have them sent up. An hour later, I called the desk. Clerk apologized and said he’d get with housekeeping. Two hours after our original request, now about 4 PM, my husband went to the desk again and we finally got towels.
A two night stay shouldn’t be this hard. The property has design flaws. Front desk personnel were exceptional in some cases and barely ok in others. I can’t recommend this property and I don’t feel lucky enough to gamble on a future reservation.

Breakfast was okay. Not the quality of what is expected from a Marriott Hotel. It would have been better if the oatmeal was hot not luke warm. The scrambled eggs were not rubber. The hot coffee was okay but not great. Maybe even think of having iced coffee as an.option since it is August and a hundred degrees outside.
Also being charged incidentals and not explained what incidentals your charged upon your check in. This was confusing as we physically just arrived. I assumed it was just for walking in the door.

Excellent service above and beyond!

This Marriott was awesome! We are big Marriott supporters and this Marriott went above and beyond to make our stay wonderful! We stayed 9 nights while our Son was at camp at the Naval Academy. All of the staff were so friendly and helpful. Starting with Ariel’s smiling face at the front desk. We felt at home. Jason the manager was so helpful with any of our request. The breakfast was great and they even went above and beyond to have waffles the morning our son was coming back! So special! We enjoyed coming back in the evening and having a drink at the fully stocked bar with the great bartenders. They were amazing! Housekeeping and maintenance were experts and quick to respond to any request with a smile! The rooms, laundry and gym were very clean. We will definitely be back and highly recommend this hotel. Close to downtown.
Only suggestion is to keep protein shakes in the store. :)

Nice clean and quiet hotel, away from freeway noise.
Its worth the extra few minutes to get out to this hotel, it is super quiet and I slept great!
