Perfect location; fine experience during our repeat visit except for the AC
We stayed at this hotel after a gap of almost a decade. We were delighted to find that the room quality remains exactly the same. The rooms are on the smaller side, yet our room had a tiny balcony overlooking the square, three very comfortable chairs, enough storage space, good lighting and lots of natural light streaming into the room and bath during the day.
The only negative was that the AC would get auto cut off at very frequent intervals and we would wake up in our sleep. The hotel management has to re calibrate the Air conditioner, else customers will find the summer months difficult to endure.
Paola and Chus provided us great hospitality at the restaurant. A fine experience overall, except for the AC.

Basic hotel
The negatives are as follows: staff , while not rude, are not overly friendly either. The air-conditioning in the room didn't work and staff just shrugged it off. Thankfully we were able to open a window and noise wasn't too bad. The triple room was very small but we got over that. Tea/coffee making facilities would have been nice.
We assumed breakfast would be buffet style but wasn't, you just went into their cafe and the choice was poor, coffee with a pastry/sandwich/roll. We paid about €10/€12 for 3 of us. If you are Irish, I suggest bringing your own tea bags and just ask for hot water. Their tea is earl grey and brutal. There is no rush in the staff so don't expect fast service. When checking out, we weren't even asked if we enjoyed our stay.

Paper thin walls
Rooms are small, but everywhere was spotlessly clean.
The WiFi was really fast. In stark contrast to the 4-star we had just come from in Barcelona.
Restaurant Quattros, a few doors away on the square, had an excellent Menu del Dia. We ate there both days we were in Tarragona.
